Povetkin vs Bruno

The disrespect for Bruno here is ridiculous he had his flaws but he is way better than Povetkin. Frank by KO in the middle rounds

I did give a reason. I believe it was something to the tune of Bruno was a good gatekeeper while Povetkin avoided champions and fought leftovers. I'm real confident I gave Pov **** for leftovers. You left that unaddressed and cried to me about some bull I don't hardly give a damn about.

The "inference" I was referring to was what you were talking about in your second post, "I was open about my inference of this forum's disposition toward Povetkin". It and the assumption that the posters on this forum are racist are not the same.

So go on and reread the post you quoted and actually respond to it.

Are you really trying to tell me that I should've started a civil "conversation" with you after you claimed that posters were racist, unwarranted? The first post I made in this thread called you "condescending" (not an insult) and you tried to backpedal by saying that we were being sensitive and just couldn't tell sarcasm. I grew up in the UK in the 80s, so Bruno handed me disappointments, about as regularly as the top ten handed him 0s on Boxrec.

Povetkin, whatever you think about him, was regularly beating ranked opponents, including when people assumed that he was done.

Obviously I don't know how this is going to go down, but the safer option seems to be Povetkin.

 

Povetkin and Bruno aren't that far apart in terms of raw resume numbers. They both, over the course of 10 years, each faced half-a-dozen Ring-rated opponents.

Povetkin went 3-3
Bruno 2-4

Bruno's losses were to Witherspoon, Lewis and Tyson x2. Povetkin's to Wlad, Joshua and Whyte.

They both had their struggles. But Bruno did at least win a legit world title strap. Povetkin was a secondary WBA champ.

I don't think there's a lot between them head-to-head, either. It's really down to Bruno's jab, right-hand vs Povetkin's left hook.

They're both capable of taking each other out, but I'd favor Bruno to get to Povetkin first (Povetkin was just not particularly good against strong jabs). That said, it's not a fight I'd bet on.

 

Tough one. Povetkin is a bad match-up for Bruno IMO.

Bruno was a pretty good boxer but he was very hittable especially to counters, and lacked the recovery skills especially as he gassed out early and I think that suits Povetkin quite well. I can see the first half of the fight being competitive, with both fighters landing big shots, but as the rounds creep up - I can see Povetkin setting up traps, and creating counters for that left hook of his which will eventually stop Bruno like in the Lennox fight in 1993. However, I could see Bruno stopping Povetkin too.

 

Probably not.... I think Pov was levels above Ron. Aw, ****, maybe I'm racist....
