Fight is a possibility for the EBU title, according to the scene, and Dimitrenko wants this.

What if it's made, who wins?

    This won't be made.

1 - Pianeta has the EBU title.
And 2 - Povetkin doesn't need the EBU title, he's already pretty much guarenteed a world title shot.

Anyway, I don't see anything overly impressive with Dimitrenko. Tall, decent skills and solid power, but I think Povetkin's class and workrate sees him through to a comfortable decision. 8-4 Povetkin.

I think this is a very smart fight for Povetkin if he's serious about fighting Wlad before the end of the year; Dimitrenko's obviously not on that level, but he is a big guy with some skills and an alright punch- that's as good a prep as you'll find for Wlad without actually fighting him. Dimitrenko's pretty good in his own right, just not ready for Povetkin.

It's a shame we'll have to watch a fight between 2 contenders over a shitty internet stream again instead of having HBO or Showtime pick it up, but whatever.

I agree it would be good prep for Wlad, Dimitrenko probably mimics him more than anybody Povetkin has faced so far with his decent technical skills and height, but in the end I think it still leaves Povetkin unprepared for Wlad's power, jab and level of experience.

Of course that's if Wlad beats Haye first, which is by no means a certainty.

    Good points all around.

I also like that if it goes down, we'll get to see a couple contenders actually face off against each other. Getting fights made like Povetkin-Dimitrenko, Wlad-Haye, Chambers-Peter, and so forth is the first step towards generating some interest in the overall division and clearing up the pecking order.

Now it's up to the fighters to actually make them entertaining, and let's hope for the sake of the viewers that they end up better better than Chambers-Peter turned out.

Povetkin isn't ready for Big Bad Wlad yet.

If he can push the fight back while picking up some experience against a guy w/ Wlad's style then better for him.

I don't know why AP would take this though.

He has a shot gauranteed so why take the chance.

I think Pianeta has the EU Title, The EBU Title should be vacant after Skelton lost to Rogan.

Pianete holds the "EBU-EU (European Union)" title, the EBU title is vacant after beging stripped from Matt Skelton because he lost to Rogan. Talk about alphabet titles... Well, after that rather mediocre performance against Estrada, I doubt Sauerland will consider putting Povetkin against Dimintrenko and risk the big payday against Wlad. I think Dimitrenko would have beaten Povetkin last Saturday.

If Povetkin performs against Dimitrenko like he did against Estrada, he's getting taken out in about 8 rounds. Dimitrenko is bigger, powerful and not much slower than Estrada.

This would make an intriging bout between two genuine contenders.

I think both guys are close at skill level but since Dimitrenko is alot taller and bigger I give him the edge to squeak out a UD, (6-4-2).

Of course, I'm having a bad day.

I heard though that if Rogan beat Skelton, he was going to be installed as the #1 and then they would work to set up a fight for him for the vacant title, so unless he steps aside, I don't think it'll happen.

Dimitrenko may very well of beaten the Povetkin from last Saturday who looked poor, but remember he's just returned from 9 months out with serious ankle damage. I think the Povetkin from the Chambers fight beats him.

Povetkin needs a fight to keep him busy, to give him extra experience. He didn't take the Wlad fight, so he should take the fights he needs to get him to the world title.

He's the most skilled heavyweight out there, and when fit, he has the best workrate. No doubt Dimitrenko wants the fight only because Povetkin looked average vs Estrada.

If he prepared for Dimitrenko, he would get inside and give the big man a working over. It wouldn't be easy due to the size difference, but Povetkin is a class above that clumsy big man.

I still like Povetkin as the future of the heavyweights. He's not quite ready but he must take the right fights.

It would **** me off if he's just waiting for that IBF title to be declared vacant.

I have to give Dimitrenko a slight edge. Interesting fight.
