I agree vitali is the most obvious guy to beat him. I also like holyfield in both fights even as faded as he was against lewis. But yeah rest of lewis' resume I favor sasha. The mccall fight would be good but povetkin would outbox him to a UD
-Donovan Ruddock - Ruddock - Tony Tucker - Povetkin - Phil Jackson - Povetkin - Frank Bruno - Bruno - Oliver McCall - McCall - Tommy Morrison - Morrison (could go either way though) - Ray Mercer - Mercer - Henry Akinwande -Povetkin - Andrew Golota - Golota is winning, but somehow manages to find a way to lose - Shannon Briggs - This version of Briggs was athletic, Briggs. - Zeljko Mavrovic - Povetkin - Holyfield - Holyfield - Holyfield -Holyfield - Michael Grant - Povetkin - Francois Botha - Povetkin - David Tua - Tua - Hasim Rahman- Povetkin - Hasim Rahman - Povetkin - Mike Tyson - Tyson (Povetkin's style plays right into Mike's strengths) - Vitali - Vitali and Lewis himself would obliterate Povetkin.
Can't see washed up Morrison or any version of Briggs beating Povetkin at all. And 2002 Tyson? Is this a joke? That version of Tyson was 1-round fighter, he was BEYOND shot. You are talking about "style", but Danny Williams had perfect style for Tyson to look good against, and he still KO'ed Mike in 4 - that's how spent was Mike at that point. As for Lewis beating Povetkin. I'm pretty sure he would. But he wouldn't "obliterate" him. He would wear him down with countless clinches and probably stop him later in the fight. But Lewis always was catious against smaller fighers - he was holding a sh1tload of times against old Holyfield and totally shot Tyson instead of coming in there to demolish them. And he was super catious against fat, 20-lbs overweight version of Tua
Povetkin is iron chinned, but he was in a lot of wars. That punch resistance was gone in Joshua fight, and i think he was a bit lighter than his usual weight, because of the age and in order to carry some of the speed he lost due to age. I don`t see anyone on the list stop Povetkin. When we talk prime Povetkin i think we talk the best possible version of Povetkin, and this is the period between 2014-2016. Of course he was prime before that, but his tactic was bad, due to his bad corner, also his physical state wasn`t great in some of his bout. If you took some of his worst showing he may lose some of the bouts, otherwise the only real lost he will 100% get is from Vitali Klitschko. There is zero chance of Holyfield beating him. Povetkin at his prime ain`t going to lose against a similar size opponent, he demolishing them.
Agreed completely! Excellent career that sometimes gest overrated by his fans. Povetkin, BTW, also had great longevity - from Byrd/Chambers wins to Dillian Whyte KO. It's 13 years
Ray Mercer KO'ed Mavrovic in the first round in the amateurs. Lewis, I think, just underestimated Zeljko. He still landed good punches, but Zeljko saw them all and was prepared
Fighters usually improve in the amateurs and heavyweights often get bigger in the pros, Bowe and Lewis only weighed 200lbs in their olympic final.
No Lewis would have struggled with Wlad and AJ both of them are/were better than anybody Lewis faced.
