Ummm ... he's on a 4 fight KO streak over some very tough dudes and went the distance with Wlad? He has got a very solid resume and imho is easily top 3 in the HW division at the moment.

Most everything you say of Povetkin can be applied to Wilder in one way or another. And as others have said, it's a joke to say Wilders defenses have been top 10. WBC, sure, not in reality. I actually think most posters underrate his wins, they are generally solid top 20 guys. But not top 10 by any real account. And someone who fails to defend even once against a clear top 10 hw shouldn't be a full champ for 2 years. Even if it's not all his fault. WBC is doing the right thing this time, get over it.

This idiot takes ABC ratings as gospel truths. Don't even bother trying to reason with him.

Hopefully Don King doesn't make a mess of the negotiations like he usually does.

The ABC ratings govern boxing, idiot. :deal

Do you think RING Magazine ratings decides who is going to fight who?:roll:

The WBO champ follows the WBO ratings. The WBC champ follows the WBC ratings. If you have more than one belt, to keep both, you have to fight the mandatories presented by each.

That's how boxing is run, IDIOT. :deal

Let me know when that eventually dawns on you.

Wilder is the WBC champ. He fights the contenders the WBC rates.

We wouldn't even be talking about Povetkin if Wilder was the champ of another organization, BECAUSE NO OTHER ORGANIZATION RATES POVETKIN.

It's not a joke to say Wilder's opponents have been top 10. They're RATED SO BY THE WBC - which is the organization Wilder represents as champ.

Those are precisely the people he's supposed to be fighting - unless he gets permission from them to UNIFY with another champ.

And I don't know how anyone could say this is the right call ... when October rolls around and Povetkin is going to be in the gym preparing for a November fight with Stiverne and Wilder is going to be in the gym preparing for a January fight ... with someone else, because Povetkin won't be ready to fight again in January.

The same thing happened last year at the same time.

It's not freaking brain surgery. Wilder is going to be out for FIVE MORE MONTHS. They should've have announced Wilder and Povetkin will fight in January and leave it at that.

They couldn't wait five months for Wilder, when other champs like Tyson Fury take more than A YEAR between fights? What's five months?

Now there's going to be multiple WBC champs, like the WBA has. There's NOTHING RIGHT about that.:deal

He turned down a chance to fight Wilder last September because he wanted a tuneup. He turned down a chance to fight Wilder last January because it was too soon after his tuneup. Wilder agreed to fight Povetkin in Povetkin's country for Povetkin's promoter in May ... and Povetkin and his pill-popping caused the postponement of that.

    That's all documented fact.

Now Wilder is coming back in January, he'll offer to defend the WBC title against Povetkin ... and $100 says Povetkin will turn it down because he decided to go after a vacant "interim" belt instead, and it'll be too soon after that meaningless match.

And Wilder-Povetkin ISN'T the fight most want to see. I think people want to see this happen so we can FINALLY be done with it - after all of Povetkin's antics -- and see Wilder fight Joshua and Fury.

Joshua and Fury are the fighters people want to see Wilder fight.

You never hear ANYONE talk about wanting to see Povetkin-Joshua or Povetkin-Fury because all these guys badmouthing Wilder don't really believe Povetkin is even going to beat Wilder.

They just rag on Wilder with regard to Povetkin because they don't like Wilder. Not because they think Povetkin will actually win a fight against him.

You never hear them say "I can't wait for Povetkin-Joshua" or "I can't wait for Povetkin-Fury" because a lot of them aren't even comfortable picking Povetkin to beat Stiverne for god's sake.

    That's the truth.

I believe Povetkin will not only beat Wilder, but that he will crush him decisively. After Sasha is done with Don Wilder and his windmills, people won't be interested in seeing him fight Fury or Joshua, because "we all know that they will smash him just like Povetkin". There's a reason that Wilder flew back to the states so fast the tyres of the plane caught fire on takeoff :deal
