You can find dozens of ‘Wlad’s gonna destroy Sacha’ threads but then again, who does stand a REAL chance, not a puncher’s chance against Klitschko?

So maybe Klitschko is too much (I still predict a full 12 round fight) but what’s with the rest? How does Povetkin, who throws 939 in 12 with a flu and eats fast right hands perform against the rest?

    Some serious discussion here folks!

Except for Wlad I`d say that Povetkin could beat them all.

I think he'd lose to Valuev and to Haye.

He probably would lose to everyone of them, he might beat Gomez or Maskaev, Povetkin was exposed in sense against Chambers, as nothing more than above average Heavyweight contender.

He'd struggle with Chagaev's counterpunching southpaw style

He'd struggle with Haye's faster hands and straight right, based on last night. If Chambers had Haye's power he'd be counting ceiling tiles

A few of the others would be close. I'd prefer to see him progress slowly

any fighter that can box and move well will give him major problems. that would help neutralize his workrate. i think sultan would outpoint him w/his mayweather potshoting style. other than that i think he does quite well h2h. he can outwork most of the top 10hws. chagaev and valuev aren't active or mobile enough.

limited power punchers like peter and virchis will surely test his unproven chin or in peter's case, the back of his head :D those are difficult fights to call but rather exciting. hate to say it, but peter has improved enough technically to beat povetkin. peter also moves pretty well to for a big man.

I see most of you've picked Haye...

If the Klitschko-Povetkin fight doesn't get made soon, Povetkin-Haye would be a GREAT matchup.

    Very exciting.

I think Povetkin, while I dont like him one bit, is favourite against pretty much all of these guys. I picked Chagaev to beat him however, I surprise myself in actually having a high opinion of Ruslan. Quite a skilled and clean all round type of fighter.

I would also pick Haye, Peter and Maskaev (the punchers) to beat him if his chin seems weak. He has not really been in there with a banger yet.

haye could knock him out. he is fast and powerful, povetkin already had problems with chambers rights, he hasn't fought a puncher yet. big mistake from him not fighting a couple of punchers first before he steps up to the biggest puncher wlad.

(I tried to but couldn't find out any information regarding a Chagaev-Povetkin fight. Do you know if the two have ever fought as amateurs?)

I agree, Chagaev is one of those who could give a really tough night to Povetkin. Two of the most accomplished amateur HWs of the last decade against each other - that would be huge.

However I myself would pick Povetkin to win. The two are fighting very similar in style (of course Chagaev is a southpaw) and they are pretty even in speed, power and defense. However I think Povetkin might be a bit faster AND he's throwing twice as many punches per round and I think his defense is better what he's shown on Saturday. It would be a hard fought 12 rounder, but I’d pick Povetkin to take a UD win over Ruslan.

    Would be a great fight!

    Povetkin beats Thompson and Gomez.

At present he would lose to most but given 4 or 5 fights against good opposition he may well still dominate. Most of those guys have been exposed in one way or another and the one thing Povetkin needs is experience at the level those guys are on before getting chucked in the deep end.
