Enjoy Chris Byrd's videos and this deserves a bump.

    Agreed.

I'd like Povetkin's chances better if his defense was not so easy to solve. Somehow, he needs to make Wlad miss a ton and subtract that ratio of clean punches landed. And he needs to not acknowledge landed punches and continue his work in a nanosecond. tough tough mental and physical things to do. He can't get stopped in his tracks. no re-group. start all over again stuff. And he has to find that 1 area where Wlad's punches just barely miss, so he's in range himself. He can't be trying to make punches miss by a foot because that puts his upper body way to o far away to do anything himself. Some Roberto Duran ride the punches while turning his head stuff. Hit, and his head moves, but not a lot of sweat flying.Never clean.

He sure didn't pull those kinds of things off in that Huck fight and that was what 2 trainers ago?

I sure don't think Povetkin's chin, or skin for that matter, can handle 12 rounds with the guy. And he has to fight a mistake free type bout and this is a quantum leap in opposition compared to his recent guys. He's very very fortunate he's not the old guy taking on youth in this matchup either, or it'd be about zero chance of winning.

    Zad,

Povetkin had a solid chin. He just lack the size, defense, and reach to get to Wlad

i disagree with you about his chin..he seems easily stunned...

cant really add anything to what byrd has said..tho obviously he isnt taking into account the povetkin has been given this great op and theres a very gd chance hes going to come into this fight juiced up..

people can argue all they want but its a huge possibility

I think he is easily stunned as well. That's what I alluded to in his ability to not acknowledge punches and respond in a nanosecond. He does not do that. He needs to against this guy on those clean shots, even jabs. Easier said than done, of course and the recent Povetkin opponents have not been capable of doing that to him. This guy sure can.

i actually think his lack of latteral movement will leave him open to the left hook straight right wlad likes to throw..

hope im wrong tho as i would love to see wlad pushed..

my prediction is wlad ko 6-8

Love watching Byrd's videos. From the looks of things he's picking Wladimir to win this fight purely based on experience, style and height/reach advantages.

HBO needs the byrds eye view, because lampley's 1960's batman catch phrases are getting old.

also like the rest of us seems to think povetkins lack of defence and latteral movement will cost him big time

Povetkin has an excellent chin from what I have seen, it is just the rest of his game isn't really enough to trouble Wlad at all

It will surely leave him in serious trouble as he gets jabbed 50 times a round and takes occasional right hands. Povetkin's best shot is to make it a close fight, go close and land combinations especially to the body. Seeing how this will be in Russia, I'm sure the referee won't allow Wladimir to grapple and lean on Povetkin as soon as he gets close. If he's allowed to do that then Povetkin is getting jabbed to death all night.

Still he hasn't tasted power like he would from Wladimir, this will be completely new to him. I can see him taking those punches early but the more he does as rounds go the weaker he will get. Even if he manages to take those punches the full 12, he won't return the same.

    :rofl
I see no scenario in which Povetkin would beat Wlad. Wlad is quicker
off the draw, holds height, reach, power technique and footwork
    advantages.
