hahaha funny...he won convincingly against a top contender for a title shot and he's considering another line of work....hahahah.>>STUPID.
He probably needs 6 months to catch his breath. In between rounds during the Chambers fight, it looked like he was about to pass out. Still, every time he came out he was going full-steam ahead. Not many heavies that can go nonstop for 12 rounds. A few things he needs to work on: The first is obvious- defense. He can't stand in front of Wlad and expect his offense to make up for his defense. Secondly, he needs to learn to adjust his game plan. I know it's hard to land shots on a guy who is 90% defense (Chambers), but at the same time he never changed up his attack. I think with more straights and uppercuts, and less hooks, he would have been able to penetrate Chamber's guard more often. I will say he has good taste in music.
But seriously, now that I've thought about it, and read the other comments, I agree.. I also interpret this that Povetkin don't want Wlad next. This kind of statement seems to be saying that in an indirect way. At least that's how I read it. They seem to know he's not ready, and state that he needs 6 months, instead of coming out and saying we are not ready for Wladimir. But I think it means the same thing. And if this is what they are meaning by that statement, its a wise move.
I wouldn't call that a convincingly win. Chambers landed the harder, more solid punchers. Povetkin was sloppy & hitting alot of arms in that fight. Whatever...
I agree, Povetkin was anything but impressive in that Chambers fight, he showed little power, average skills, and looked to be a little rocked by Chambers at one or two times in that fight, if it wasnt for Chambers gassing out down the stretch, I really believe Chambers would of won.
You either watched some other fight, or have some weird conception of what constitutes boxing skills. It was a solid win. If Chambers tried to press a fight, instead of covering up like a little ***** he is - he would have been knocked out. Eddie had no chance.
It was a good first 6 rounds, I just think Povetkin proved too me and alot of other posters that he's not as good as some people made him out to be, the fact that he got a little rocked by Chambers, who's not known for being a powerful puncher, wont bode to well for him when it comes time to fight Wlad.
:good It was much less about Eddie gassing, and more about Povetkin breaking his will when he continued to come forward after taking Chambers' best shots early in the fight. Once that happened, Chambers the fought to survive, not to win. Still, Chambers showed enough vs Povetkin early to make me think it's a good move he doesn't push for a fight with Wlad right away. Waiting also has the added benefit of making it that much bigger a fight when it does happen if Wlad can take out Chagaev in the meantime.
That statement?? MAKES YOU THE *****!!! :yep Dream the **** ON! Talking about skills when its obvious you have littel regard for defense. Eddie had NO CHANCE?? Why was Povetkin getting busted up through 5 rounds??? THERE WERENT ANY BITCHES STILL STANDING AT THE END OF POVETKIN vs CHAMBERS:nono Just you at the keyboard:hi:
Dude, beer shot outta my nose as I read that.............. You're friggin' nuts! I admire your fan loyalty but c'mon :yep
He is Wlads biggest threat, and I don't see how some of you idiots can't understand this....6 months off is the perfect amount of time. 1 month to rest, 2 months to pick training back up, and 3 months to spot train areas that need working and also get his gameplan together. Hello, i'm boxing. Have we ever met before?
