I'm not going to break it down,,,cause the fight isn't on yet. But I will gladly tear your arguments apart when the Wlad/Povetkin threads are official
I dont remember you're previous posts indicating you thought Chambers a *****?:huh Povetkin did what he had to, Chambers didnt step up, but he damn sure didnt ***** UP:nono :deal
:bart I never said any such thing. You are mixing me up with someone else. I said Chambers was a great contender and wouldn't be the easiest fight for Povetkin. Nevertheless I picked Povetkin to win,,,but I NEVER said Chambers was a *****....or whatever you are implying
You responded to Curmudgeons BS and agreed, so i just had to question how far. :hey Maybe you didnt read his ***** rant, The way he put it?:-(
I see where your coming from. I didn't read very carefully,,,or all the posts for that matter. Maybe it was more of "selective reading" . I like Chambers, and think that he is a very good boxer. I was nervous the first 4 rounds of the fight (being a Povetkin fan myself). I was just agreeing that it was a very good win for Povetkin, cause I have seen people try to downgrade Chambers and therefore Povetkins win over him, when I think Chambers is a great contender.
Thanks for you kind words Heavyrighthand, next thing you will tell me Sam Peters your favorite fighter and not Wlad.:yep I got nothing against Povetkin, he's a tough guy that always puts it all on the line and comes to fight. His power is the one thing that seemed not to be there against Chambers, something that he will need against a fighter like Wlad if he wants to win. Aside from his workrate, Povetkin possess nothing that should make any top 10 Heavyweight really that nervous in the ring, he's above average Heavyweight, nothing more, nothing less.
If Povetkin where to fight again in 6 months, that would mean he'd fight at the end of July or early August. Considering that Wladimir takes 4-7 months between fights and an average of about 5 months, that would mean Klitschko would be ready to fight around the same time. Klitschko will fight on 2/23 so he could fight as early as the end of July/early August, too. I don't know what Povetkin's camp has said but his camp saying they want to fight again in 3 months would be a lot better than using 6 months if they truly want to avoid Klitschko. Sounds to me like the time frame is spot on for a match between the two. Having said that, I'd rather not see Povetkin get KO'd so early in his career. He should find someone else to fight.
You are so wrong its ridiculous. How about a great chin? He has very underrated handspeed and also power to go with it. People all of a sudden think he has no power because he didn't knock out Chambers, who is a fantastic defensive fighter. He also is the strongest heavyweight out there mentally,,,possibly even in boxing. He had the flu and still threw 950 punches in the fight, mostly power punches, and kept his composure the best he could. He is also an EXTREMELY good boxer and can adapt to many different situations with his backround and pedigree. He has the tools to upset Wlad, you will see.
No, Audley, I don't think you can do it, because if you really wanted to be a champ and could put if off then you'd own one of the bells right now.
KobeisGod is absolutely right. This is management 101. The Povetkin realized after the Chambers fight that he is just not ready for the Wlad step. So, they release this, Wlad will get tied up, and they will go in another direction and try and meet Wlad later.
Not slamming Povetkin, not at all...........but...... Let's be real about it. Povekin's world level viablility is still somewhat up in the air, cause we are not really sure whatlvel of opposition that Chambers offered. But, I don't think Povetkin is going to be a knockout fighter. I see him shaping up to be like an Ibragmimov; fast hands, good workrate, good footwork, but less than stellar power. Nothing wrong with that, but that 's how I see him........THUS FAR.:good I hope he starts to show signs of real KO power, as that is a huge asset to the marketability of a heavy, but, we shall see. Good fighter, regardless.
Agreed!!! :good 6 months or 6 years...wont make a difference..Wlad will knock his ass out.....actually 6 years will will make a difference for Povetkin....Wlad will probably be retired...
