I have seen so many people in this forum that favor Hunter against Povetkin, and it surprises me so much.

I have just watched Usyk vs Hunter again and I have realized Usyk had humiliated Hunter in that match. Hunter has a terrible defence and a weak chin.

Although Usyk hit him with weak jabs, he was able to make the ref count. Povetkin, who hits like a mule, will TKFO Hunter easily.

If we also consider the facts that Povetkin is more skilled and more experienced than Hunter, we can easily conclude that Povetkin will annihilate Hunter in a devastating fashion.

    Povetkin by KO in 7.

I don't think so, mate. It's a clear case of two careers heading in opposite directions.

Hunter hadn't fought for 11 months going into the Usyk fight, had no meaningful lead-in fights before that & was up against an active, undefeated world champion who also happened to be the Olympic champ.

It's a miracle Hunter got to the back end of the fight against Usyk let alone took some rounds off him. He went into that fight with no chance of winning.

He'll be going in against Povetkin fight-active & with some very good wins under his belt. It's a good fight but I think the Junior Bounty Hunter will have too much.

He destroyed 6' 8'' giant David Price in a devastating fashion. He also put skilled Johan Duhaupas into sleep with the same heavy left hook.

Povetkin is a knockout artist. Hunter, originally a cruiserweight, will be dismantled easily by Povetkin's heavy punches, no chance. This is heavyweight boxing baby.

:smash2: That was funny. Hunter never defeated Andy Ruiz.

He took punches from the only guy who legitimately stopped Mariusz Wach, who Povetkin couldn’t put a dent in(fight was only stopped due to injury). Povetkin’s a hell of a boxer, but he’s very evidently past his best and Hunter will take apart in the later rounds after a prett competitive and entertains start.
He absolutely mopped the floor with Ruiz in the ams. That was a long time ago and doesn’t apply all that much here, but it happened.

Poor old Johann Duhaupas took the fight on 12 hours' notice and had been out drinking the night before. He didn't even have a pair of boxing shoes and had to borrow someone's running shoes. Alexander Povetkin was also juiced to the gills in that bout.

Alexander Povertkin, I wouldn't call a knockout artist. He began to achieve some more eye catching knockouts following his drugs ban, but who knows if he was taking anything prior to then. His physique certainly changed almost overnight.

He went the distance with an ancient Larry Donald, Nicolai Firtha, Eddie Chambers, Ruslan Chagaev, Jason Estrada and cruiserweight Marco Huck prior to this change in his physique following the Wladimir Klitschko defeat.

It would be an interesting fight, I think. I would favour the American.

Povetkin is a grinder you don't want to land in. Offensive fighter, powerful, very technically adversed, strong hooks and used to fighting taller guys. Only few made it through him. Klitschko, whose boxing style in that match was questioned a lot and Joshua, who felt again what it's like to be hit and chased. Don't know much about Hunter, didn't follow him over the years.

However, Povetkin's only weakness is his ability to take punches due to the age I guess. His stamina, that I was much worried about, seems to be alright for that level of opposition. He went through 12 rounds chasing Hughie Fury and didn't seem to get out of steam.

If there is no lucky punch, I expect Povetkin to KO Hunter. The fight's not official yet though, would be a good fight to watch.

Like 15 years ago? And there is no record. You can't put forward that ancient (amateurs) win to claim Hunter would beat Povetkin.

If I beat Buster Douglas when we were small kids, does it mean I am better than the peak Mike Tyson? NO.

How do you know Duhaupas was drinking the night before? Were you in the same bar with him and bought him beers?

Povetkin 35 professional wins, 24 of them by KO. A total KO artist.
