I kind of predicted it in post 20, although I got the hands reversed for the counter, and I thought Whyte would be out on his feet when it was stopped. Still, in principle, what I knew what that Povetkin would be too versatile for him. One handed fighters struggle with guys that have an arsenal.
Sky going with the it’s heavyweight boxing these things happen narrative. No. Povetkin was looking for it and knocked him spark out. No luck. It pissed me off all week how they were overlooking Povetkin. Shove that right down your throats you robbing ****s.
Wow wee, that opens it up now for all the titles to be unified, cant see Fury or Wilder fighting Povetkin before a big pay day with AJ. Whyte will now become the guy those guys don't need to worry about and he will have to take more "sleepers" to get back to contention , its a long road back considering some of the talent coming through , shame but in the end based on today it was a matter of if not when..
The one thing that I do give Wilder credit for is that someone said that he tried to improve his chin, and it appears to have worked. He no longer gets knocked down by Harold Scoiners and Dustin Nichols. If he would have stuck to his jab and learned some footwork, he might have been a good fighter.
Whyte sucks (relative to ranking and hype). Povetkin is among the most underrated fighters of the last 20 years. He is a known highly ranked HW and still manages to fit that bill.
