Povetkin Won But...

Can you explain to me why you think he has no power?

 

Peter was good at KOing lower level opposition, too, but look at how his KOs have slowed to nothing on the world class level.

Povetkin is probably good, fast, and what I've seen, aggressive enough to compete with all but the top four, or so, heavies.


But if he'd increase his power to where he can hurt or KO his opponents on this level, he may be able to beat all but the top two.

His lack of KO power will cause some to not have any respect for him, and they'll manhandle him.

My point exactly. Povetkin didn't waste years fighting that level of opposition. How on earth can you say he lacks KO power? The only way to establish that would be to have him fight bums that take him the distance. I doubt that.

Ps. I know you did not say no power.

 

Nobody stated that he'd one-shot Waldo anyways.

He WILL apply pressure and put punches on Waldo. And historically, that has always troubled the big octopus.

 

I agree, pressure is the key to beating Wlad. His stamina is still in question and his chin will always be suspect, Povetkin got a decent chance of beating Wlad. Lets just hope he gets past either Brock or Chambers.:good

Povetkin doesnt have a chance against wladimir...he needs atleast 2 years to go.

 

I don't think he can be Wlad but it could make for a good fight and an some drama into the division and I'd settle for that.

 

Povetkin will beat either Brock or Chambers. Brock possibly being a little tougher but the same result. Once Povetkin figures him out he will be tearing Brock a new *******. I could see Chambers pulling a no-show and just laying on the ropes taking punishment until it's mercy stopped.

People, especially Waldo huggers, are going to be all over this as if Povetkin was exposed or whatever. Nonsense. He beat Chris Byrd in his 14th pro fight. The fight went exactly as most of us expected (spare the family stoppage).

Waldo has had his fare share of trouble with pressure fighters. And mind you, none of them had the sort of background Povetkin brings to the table. Yea both Brock and Byrd had a fare amount of amateur experience, but both guys are cutesy defensive fighters who don't open up with any regularity. Povetkin will put that pressure on Waldo. No doubt.

And Povetkin's camp know what they are dealing with. Which is why they are going right for the throat. They have a big guy with suspect stamina that they can outwork. As long as he sticks to his gameplan he'll pass the test. And it'll be funny hearing the Waldo fanclub explain how he lost to a guy with 15 professional fights.

 

Ready or not, he's being tossed in there, anyway. :blood

The leap in opposition going from the Chambers Brock winner, immediately to Wladimir , will be quite an immediate rise in opposition level, to say the least.

 

First or second time? And I don't think anyone is denying Wlad hits harder.

 

It'll be hard to stick to any gameplan when Wlad keeps him at bay and beats him all over the ring with his jackhammer jab and left hooks, which Austin can attest to............

Not to mention when he starts to augment the left hand with the straight right, which can cause a man to go cold before he hits the canvas.

 

Even as a so called "Wlad Hater", my money would be on Wlad to win. As Sakura already pointed out he probably needs 2 more years or 5 more fights to really be ready for a guy like Wlad, I do feel if Povetkin could pressure Wlad you might see an upset.

I do hope Povetkin wins the IBF tournament, cause I really cant see Chambers or Brock giving Wlad any trouble whatsoever.

 

Yea, that ole Steelhammer will be swinging alright. And the big man will be dead tired after 5-6 rounds. As always.

I've seen guys not even close to Povetkin's caliber extend Waldo 6 rounds. Haven't you?
