If you think Povetkin is truly the guy to reinvigorate boxing you are delusional. I am guessing you are Russian? or Eastern European? Either way the only way to make boxing huge again, is to make it huge in America. That is where the money is, the TV exposure is. Just cuz its popular in Eastern Europe and Russia dont mean **** on a global scale. The majority of the best fighters are US based, they aint gonna come to Russia, to fight on a shitty channel and get paid **** for their efforts. Povetkin aint gonna crack american mainstream thus he aint gonna make boxing big. END OF STORY

Yeah the eight million dollars Sultan got paid in Russia was garbage right? The 700,000 Donald got paid in Moscow was garbage right? The millions that fighters like Abraham, Sturm, Valuev, Klitschko and even Povetkin make in Germany a fight is garbage right? The 6.5 million people that viewed Sturm vs Griffin was a bigger number than viewed LSU vs Va Tech when they were ranked 2 and 5, so don't give me this crap. Boxing is doing just fine, and more and more top fighters are being based globally, including your beloved Haye who has barely cracked his own market, something you conveniently ignore.

Boxing was an North American-British sport that went global, whereas MMA is a global sport that came to North America and Britian. Klitschko's fight with Brewster was broadcast in 105 countries, Valuev vs Chagaev in over 80. Sorry but your argument shows an extreme lack of understanding about the global market.

You guys are getting truly mixed up. What the guys saying is Haye is by far and away the most marketable HW potentially. Not only is he a natural and excellent boxer, the ladies go ****ing mad for him(he used to be abercrombie & fitches international model), his personality far exceeds these BORING eastern Europeans, he is a breath of fresh air. All these things make him marketable to the big sponsors. Inderstand ****ing rolex would rather Haye becomes lineal than a povetkin type guy. Haye is what the heavies need. ****ING CHARISMA. This can not be denied. I dont know about you lot, but im extremely bored with the ibragimovs/chagaevs of this world, we need a HW champ that everyone on both sides of the pond will instantly recognise, that my friends, is David Haye

If he is so big then why the hell is he fighting in places like York Hall and not the O2? Why is his next fight taking place in France? You are getting it mixed up, Haye has not proven to be transcendant yet. Once again Povetkin's last fight was picked up in 25 countries and drew 20,000 people, when has Haye ever done anything close to that?

You are truly stupid boy....The key word i mentioned was POTENTIAL.......****ign POTENTIALLY he is thwe most marketable guy in the heavies, when he gets well known and beats some class fighters people worldwide will want to know more. He is not even very well known in the UK right now, but when he makes a few waves at heavy, he will explode.

Do me a favour boy, look up the word POTENTIAL.

Look i'll help you out, its spelt p-o-t-e-n-t-i-a-l.

He has 20 fights, that is seven more than Povetkin yet Povetkin was already more famous by his fight with Mayfield, that would be fight number eleven I believe. So please don't talk about potential. Povetkin has already shown greater potential as a draw, especially considering he is the most talked about young heavy on both sides of the Atlantic. The only idiot here is you, you Haye fans need to get a grip on reality.

For **** sake, would you read what im writing you tit. Im not saying he has more potential boxing skill wise, im saying marketability. If you honestly think Povetkin is the man to bring glamour back to the heavies, you are sadly mistaken, take that friom someone who studies marketing.

    Povetkin, Solis, Haye, Johnson.

Damn, the division will be in good hands in a couple of years.

Obvioulsy you aren't doing a good job because you are missing the point entirely.

Povetkin has fought in front of 20,000 people twice on cards he was either the main event or co-main event for. His fights have been broadcast in up to 25 countries.

Haye normally fights in York Hall, which only holds 900 people I believe, and how many people showed up at The Arena at Wembley? It certainly was nowhere near the capacity 12,300. That was his 20th fight, if he had the potential you claim he would be fighting in a bigger venue already.

I dont care after how much fights it is, when Haye explodes, he will explode. Povetkin only got more exposure so quicker because he is a gold olympian.

Anyway, I give up. Bye bye alcademb, im out of here. In the meantime, rememeber my words, Haye is a sponsors dream, good looking, recognisable, great talent. Povetkin is just a great talent, and instantly forgetable.

    Anyway, im off.

For what it is worth, I think Haye is also a fine contentder. That blow out of Bonin was unreal.

Some day, I hope Povetkin and Haye fight.

Marketability in the U.S. doesn't mean **** when you have your entire country's support. Povetkin can sell out any arena in Russia fighting almost any HW. His personality/charisma is very similar to Miguel Cotto in that he just does his job and doesn't get involved in selling a fight by talking **** or hyping himself up. They both create interest because of their exciting styles / great boxing abilities and that what any boxing fan should care about.
