http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Vdd5yWLYL1U is this guy the forerunner of the next generation of heavyweights? the noughties belong to the klitchskos could the 2010s be this mans? i for one believe he will be a major force.
Povetkin is a very good fighter who should remain at the top of the division for a very long time provided he doesn't burn out. However I think he has weaknesses that could prove fatal against the very best competition. Sasha can be hit. He will need to have an iron jaw to withstand what powerpunchers like Vladimir Klitschko will hit him with. Also, Povetkin is not overwhelming fast or agile. In today's atmosphere, Povetkin can hold a piece of the world title for a long time. But he doesn't seem to be a talent on par with the best of the past generation, such as Bowe, Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, the Klitschkos and certain others.
I cant wait for this fight. I am fan of Sasha style of boxing. Always comes forward, has a great stamina and strong chin. Wladimir is in for a tought fight.
I've been high on Povetkin for quite sometime. Win or lose vs Wladimir he will definitely be a force in the division.
I have been impressed by Povetkin since i started to be made aware of how fast he and his management wanted him to be moved.. By his 8th fight he wanted me to bring Friday Ahunanya to Germany to fight him, I did underestimate him a little i suppose but saw first hand how strong he is in comparrison to some very top class journeymen at the time.. Now he has beaten the man who Lost to Klitschko on that night in Manheimm (Chris Byrd) and he himself has stayed on course to eventually get a shot with Wladimir... Chambers and Arreola were the only 2 i think had any chance of using intelligence or power to beat him but for now he has bypassed Chambers, and has a genuine shot at beating Wladimir.. Haye would be a great match for him if he came through succesfully in his title shot.......
