He has great intangibles, heart and will to win. Fighting in his home country with Putin watching live will only embolden him. In the amateurs at times, and once as a pro ( Chambers fight ) Povetkin had to take the hard road to victory. He might get KO'd, but I think he's going out on his shield if he does. He won't " withdraw " from the action after Wlad lands a hard right or two.
he will give it his all, that you can bet on the problem is, he doesn't have any tools to get close to Wlad to cause him much trouble, and will take a lot of punishment
No one has Wlad's combination of world class size, skills, speed, power, brute strength, and smarts. But Povetkin fights with a high guard, and has quick hands. He'll fire his hook to the head or body once he's in mid range, or when Wlad is near the corners.
One thing's for sure, Povetkin won't be there to lay down. He's going to fight with everything he has till the very end. Can't ask for more from a top notch fighter really. Wladimir will do the very same which should provide an exciting tactical fight. This is the first heavyweight fight I'm seriously looking forward to since Wladimir vs Haye in 2011.
Putin is going to be there? :think Wlad should walk out to a live performance by ***** Riot. (they're better than RHCP anyway :!
Yes, Putin is a combat sports fan and a big fan of Povetkin. Putin and power men will be there. The propaganda of a Povetkin win and having the #1 heavyweight in the world is what top Russian leaders want. This is a reason why they had the high bid and are hosting. Wlad's fights are easy to score, but in this case I do think the rounds he win by close margin might go to Povetkin. So Wlad better now win 7-5 or even 8-4 or a bad score card might emerge.
Everybody Wlad ever faced got inside on him. Even Mormeck and Peter. You saying Povetkin is levels below tham?
Or just have Haydn wearing a tight P. Riot t-shirt. GRRL POWER!! Would she be arrested? Would that sent Wlad into a berserk rage, tossing a 1-2 at Putin and spark an international incident?
and how many punches did Mormeck land in the entire fight? 4? what did Peter do in the rematch? the 1st fight was competetive, yes, but in the rematch, he stood and took punishment until he collapsed
I thought he struggled a lot more with Huck than Chagaev, which is odd because I've always rated Chagaev (and, in the minority opinion, considered him the #2 when he challenged Wlad) and never thought much of Huck and long regarded him as barely above paper champ status at cruiser. :conf It's just how it shook out on the nights. Chagaev was also somewhat faded by then, and Huck was really up for his crack at Povetkin and had the night of his life. (until the verdict came through, anyway) I had Ruslan getting shut out until the 6th, when he wobbled Povetkin with the left and carried that surge into the 7th...but then it fizzled and I didn't give him another until the very last. 117-111 Povetkin on my card. Huck on the other hand imposed his style of fight on Povetkin from the beginning, had him hurt more than Chagaev did, and took far more shares., IMO ultimately deserving the nod. 115-113 Huck on my card. Yet still, prime for prime and pound for pound I consider Chagaev much better than Huck. Go figure.
what good is getting inside and not throwing punches? letting a 240 lbs guy lean on you and take your strength away? I don't doubt that Povetkin will get in close to Wlad, the real issue is whether he can throw punches before getting smothered by the bigger, stronger, yet faster man
