people getting side tracked with their agendas regarding this drug test and can't see that this is anothe ***** move by this povetkin guy to avoid fighting. the main issue here is we have this guy who has been the mandatory for so many fking years its really ridiculous. Povetkin fought four times after becoming mandatory and still can't build enough confidence to face wlad. he came up with excuse after excuse to not fight, and the latest is this drug test bs. Wait and see, if wlad says yes for his demands he'll pull other **** out of his ass to avoid the inevitable ass whooping that he so much deserves. Listen or read any of povetkin's latest interviews, he's scared SHITLESS. Povetkin, you're the contender, *******. you're supposed to want this and beg wlad for the opportunity, not the other way around.
no way. wlad is way to smart to let emotions take over a fight. He will stick to the game plan he and manny come up with:good
I hate all this bull**** buzzinga bout regarding fighters and promoters demanding other professionals take drug tests. I'm all for drug tests in the sport and across all organisations, but its not up to individual fighters or promoters to be demanding them thats for each boxing organisation to set out and the sooner they clarify their stances and make it clear the better. we've already had 1 fight taken away from us because of this bull**** and a great fighters name blemished (pacquaio), it should be stamped out immediately and dealt with now before it foes totally out of control. By the way, good luck to the Klitchko's, great boxers and seem like really good guys!
what did the Gomez fight lack that the Arreola fight had? the mexican following? so hbo wisely picked up the Arreola fight, but only an idiot would pick up many of Vitali's next fights? i understand the popularity of Arreola makes it a wise choice to be televised, but isn't it always a gamble as to the quality of the match? Vitali fights have been, more often than not, entertaining...or at the very least they fail to see the final bell...so I would think it makes sense to pick up all of the champs fights simply based upon his statistics
Povetkin don't want to have to face Wlad, as he knows the outcome, already. We ALL know the outcome. Povetkin's camp knows a brutal Wlad loss will hinder Povetkin's career, and crush his confidence. Why don't he just forget the mandatory spot, avoid the topic whenever brought up, and keep fighting his own level of opponents..... This public demanding for a drug test thing is laughable, coming from a guy who's been a mandatory for years, and can't seem to muster the confidence to follow through with the fight.
Yes and No, his comeback after nearly 4 years to try and regain his title against Sam Peter. There was a story there, and people tuned in for good reason, everybody wants to see history get made. Then the Gomez fight took place, Vitali being a big puncher and Gomez a blown up cruiser without much of a fan following. It wasn't worth it for HBO to pick it up, and the fight itself sucked action wise. The Arreola fight as I mentioned before, featured a rough and tough mexican against big Vitali. This was an easy sell to the american public, even better to mexican fans. Who always follow there own. It was a good scrap in my opinion. Arreola tried to make it a fight, but Vitali was just too tough and powerful for him. The Johnson fight was the worst, just a terrible fight all the way around. Johnson was a non-puncher, which rarely makes for a fan friendly fight. Vitali is fighting yet another no name oppenent, even worse than Johnson. HBO or espn wont go near this fight, and I dont blame them. Vitali's fights have been coin flip lately, at least over his last 4 matches. With Wlad you know what your getting 9 times out of 10. A jabfest domination, with the usual late round knockout. Little action and or enertainment overall until the end comes, unless your a big Wlad fan and think everytime Wlad throws a jab you get a boner under the blanket. The casual american fan knows very little about the Klits, and the ones that have seen them fight. Either get the two mixed up or feel watching them fight on a saturday night is a waste of time.
Exactly. I think if it were just up to Povetkin he would fight Wladimir, I do not believe someone who has achieved so much would avoid a challenge. However Atlas has always disliked Wladimir and Vitali, and I frankly do not think his ego will allow him to see his charge fail against either of the two heavies he has so publicly derided.
the johnson fight was bad...johnson was terrible and Vitali was in a noticeably different form than the arreola fight i do agree with you in regards to the casual american fan as well. with tyson as a household name and a growing ufc culture, fight fans are out for blood and not neccesarily interested in a good showing of the sweet science. the casual fan doesnt care that Wlad wants to use his brain after his career, they want a 6'6'' mamoth to go balls out and murder people. as a huge wlad fan, i too would like to see his fights end ala Austin more often...but im not the one putting my brain at risk so ill enjoy his chess matches all the same as far as Sosnowski goes, Espn has had him on fnf before...thats the only reason i knew of him, so i would think he could be marketable again....he's in shape and comes to fight
You can thank Floyd Mayweather for this ****. Wlad and Vitali have degrees in sports nutrition and stay healthy all year long. These drug accusations are going to tarnish the sport and put MMA on top. Demanding drug tests and accusing fighters of using is the new way of ducking. Pitifull.:-(
