Watching Holyfield corner Holmes in their fight, get his head into his chest and starting to work Frazier came to mind.

So who hits harder with a single shot between the two? Do they have completely different kinds of power?

I would say that Frazier hit harder and it isnt particularly close.

Frazier by a fair margin but Evander could hit too.

Ironically, Evander's most powerful punch was his left hook, when it was delivered just right. Frazier had a heck of a left hook and he depended on it 90% of the time whereas Evander threw his occasionally, their styles being vastly different and all.

I'd go with Frazier having the harder hook but not by a overwhelmingly huge margin.

Joe Frazier's left-hook was harder than any other shot Holy could muster up...... Frazier's hook was top of the line..... Holy had decent power, and, he was a much better two-fisted fighter..... In terms of greatness, Holy is the man there.... BUT! In pure one shot punching power, Frazier outgun's Holy in that dept.......

I'm not sure one would state that it wasn't "particularily close". Frazier had to REALLY work on a lot of his B-rate foes in order to get them out. I think Frazier has more than Holy, just not head and tails more like so many think.

It would be very interesting to see Frazier's power against the Bowe's, the Lewis's, Tyson...even Ruiz.

Frazier has more, but single-shots weren't his forte either. Frazier had to swing his left considerably over rounds. He wasn't Tysonesque.

I also must add that Frazier's power seemed wicked when he landed upside SMALL heavies like "Ellis & Foster." But his power wasn't so prevailant against bigger / rugged dudes like "Bonavena, Ali & Foreman."

YES! Ali felt the pain the first time around with Joe Frazier in 1971, but in fights 2 & 3, Ali applied the pain there.......

Gotta hand Frazier credit for his ability to work inside and deliver. He had power and if he landed just right.....

Evander's power gets underrated but Frazier has a lot more power.

Ali felt more pain than he had ever known before in the third Frazier fight. He said Manila "was the closest to thing to death" that he knew of. Frazier's corner pulled him out seconds before Ali collapsed.

Power is based on leverage and delivery technique......... Holy is way more stronger than Joe Frazier ever was.... Holy can lift some serious weight in the gym......... Joe Frazier was not a weight lifter......... However, Frazier had a hook from hell......

Holy looked like a bomber when he KO'd Douglas with a single right cross in Vegas back in 1990. But the truth is, Douglas lacked the desire to get his ass off the canvas on that night........ Buster Douglas knew where he was at when he was floored by Holy..... He just decided to take the 18 million dollars and run...... Douglas' initial purse take was a huge 24 million dollars... However, he had to buy off Don King for 6 million dollars prior to the opening bell..... You see, King was treating Douglas like a buck-tooth stepchild.... Buster Douglas wanted out from King's wing......

Frazier had a far more powerful left hook, sure, but imo, Holyfield had the over all greater power. So what that he couldnt knock out Foreman or Holmes, the feats only been done once in both mens careers...but Holyfield could bang, he stopped Tyson, and only Douglas and Lewis could do that as well.

I dont think he had the one punch power that Frazier had, but over all, I believe he was the strongest of the two. He had power in two hands, Frazier was favorably stronger with his left hand, thats about it. Frazier's power, mostly, came from his conditioning and non-stop work rate. He wore people down with pressure.
