Today fewer boxers use the L stance but how does the modern stance affect the power of the Left hook? Which is the best stance to gain maximum power?

They use it less because there are fewer old school trainers around anymore. More guys are busy imitating superstars instead of learning the basics.
The L stance can definitely help with the accuracy of the left hook but,... the power is yours!!!

More leverage from the sideways style 100% of the time you have to load your power over your front leg--far easier sideways style
