Who are some fighters known for their devastating power whose boxing skills get constantly overlooked?
First that comes to mind is Carlos Zarate. Few people ever mention just how technically skilled he actually is because he’s always seen as just a pure puncher when he’s really an efficient textbook boxer/puncher who knew how to break down opponents slowly.

Obviously Mike Tyson.... there are many casual boxing fans who see him as just a brawler

Vic Darchinyan ...he’s not highly skilled....but he does have some skills ... there’s a method to his madness indeed

Judging by the latest threads, Roy Jones Jr is a candidate for mention in this thread.

Particularly old Foreman. I really liked his calm, collected approach to busting people down.

I think it’s the opposite. A lot of casuals think he’s the greatest

Yea, but not cause of technique. Many think he was that great cause he was the hardest hitter, which is something that even a die hard fan like me knows it not to be true.

Mike Tyson's skills are incredibly underrated, especially his defense.

No they aren't. Most remember him as the brute head-hunter from the 90s.

Most people remember 80s Tyson. His most popular bouts aside from Holyfield and Lewis were all in the 80s

We remember 80s Tyson and how brilliant he was. Some casuals too.
But many see him as being overrated due to his losses to Holyfield and Lewis.

I’d say most people on here think he’s overrated, but go on YouTube and click on some of his 80’s bouts and there would be a ton of top comments praising his skill
