Didn't the Ortiz fight do over a million buys?, was Ortiz a "dance partner"?. It all comes down to advertisement and hype to be honest. Sure, a serious partner could do extremely well to encourage people to tune in but it all comes down to hype. The Ortiz fight was overly hyped yet the Maidana fight(first fight) hardly got any hype yet Maidana proved he's more of a dance partner than Ortiz will ever be. Do you consider Khan a "dance partner"?, then wait till you see how much a fight with Mayweather is going to make. I promise you right now it won't be anything less than a million.
PPV has been here for decades and will remain. These guys don't risk their lives to hit the highest level in the most dangerous sport in the world to headline on free television. No offense, but you can wait for it to die till it eventually outlives you.
Free TV keep Japan boxing alive. I guess you think Japan boxers stupid? Top Japan boxers don't waste years padding record. They not make super money but they make nice money, get endorsements and sponsors. Like Uchiyama deal with Nike. Ppv in America help kill audience. Less than 1 million people watch biggest name in US boxing. More than 10 million watch biggest names in Japan. At point where Mayweather is, money shouldn't be driving force. He got enough to live 50 times his life. If money his only desire then he very bad for boxing.
PPV is bull**** and you know it. You can make good money without it and its killing the sport. You fanboys care more about their immediate gains than the health of the sport.
