I think Mosley vs. Mayorga will be big. De La Hoya vs. Forbes , Klitschko is never ppv. Marquez vs. Vasquez. Quintana vs. Williams Margorito/ Clottey. Judah/ Clottey, There are plenty of fights that are entertaining and world title caliber that arent on ppv. I think it would be interesting to see numbers for title fights of both boxing and ufc. The reason I say UFC spike is like boxing on espn2. Is boxing doesnt have a outlet besides espn2 for fights that arent on a movie channel ur charged monthly for. Like Spike.

still the numbers are limited to US ppv numbersmaybe if you had numbers for the last few major fights in each 'sport' it would be easier to see which sport was more popular.

also i wanted to ask what are the prices for the ppv's for each of them?

and sometimes here in the uk we pay a subscription fee instead of ppv for a fight, does that happen in the us??

Im also shocked at this. I thought the WWE was on the slide. I guess i dont pay much attention.. but i don't hear much about WWE anymore. Not since the days of Stone Cold and The Rock.

Yeah spike has over 90 million homes to reach while HBO only reaches 30 and still did 2.2 Million w Calz-B-Hop so that's 60 million less homes able to being reached.

Your also looking at the numbers ALL WRONG! UCF PPV's almost always fall into the 400-650 range because UFC fans regardless of matchups buy. On the flipside Boxing fans are more picky with buying PPV's, it depends on matchups and Boxing fans deem if it is PPV worthy. Pac-Diaz did 200K but JMM-Pac did 400K (a RECORD FOR FIGHT UNDER WELTERWEIGHT) Titio-RJJ did 530K, Cotto-Margo did almost 500k while just last year Judah-Cotto only did 225K. I'm not buying the JMM-Casa fight because while it's a good matchup it's not PPV worthy in my mind and many Boxing fans eyes. bOTTOM LINE UFC can't even DREAM of touching Boxing's superfights numbers. Could u imagine if Boxing had a 43 yr old fighter with a 16-8 record face a former steroid/WWE wrestler with a 2-1 record on PPV? JEEEEEEEEZZZZ they'd be persecuted.

I think you are missing the point, especially when you say:

The fact of the matter, it is a business decision and boxing will have a huge challenge in the coming years. The existing "stars" are waning and there is not much on the horizon. It's all about business and their marketshare is declining.

The goal is to get money from the consumer's pocket, UFC is willing that battle.

The UFC is probably making a ton of cash on merchandise. I see tons of people with UFC hats and shirts..

well, personally I'm a striking purist, and although I like MMA, I'd much rather watch boxing or Muy Thai because their striking ability is so much better.

**** what everyone else thinks. I'll always be a boxing fan. Since when is popular opinion the correct one? If thats the case then Britney Spears would be one of the best artists of all time.
