there 2 differentsports mate, why do people keep going on about this stuff, UFC is ****ed and will be ****ed inside 10 years if they don't start paying the fighter the right money, there getting flat out ripped off, boxing is one sport and MMA is another, I love boxing and I just take a pasting interest in MMA
Tito vs Jones = 500k Pac vs Marquez = 450k Pavlik vs Taylor 230k Pac vs Diaz = 200k Margarito vs Cotto 470k 1,850,000 ** MMA propaganda by this MMA nuthugger, nice troll This thread is ****
You are a CLOWN...Boxing waning? Do you know they have been saying that for years? When SRR retired,Marciano,Ali,Tyson,Leonard,Duan ETC,ETC,ETC, they said no big stars on the horizon how they gonna replace these guys? Well it's still here. There are SO MANY YOUNG stars waiting to take over and just like in the past it will continue to happen. Ortiz,Linares,Khan,Arreola,Berto,Williams,Angulo,Kirland the list doesn't stop. Ask yourself before 07 did many people evn hear of PBF? NO! It doesn't take long to build a star and it will happen with oneof the guys listed above or another fighter it always does. UFC is a fad and I'll PROVE WHY...If MMA was such a great sport then why can't the sport sell itself? Elite X/C lost over 30 million last year it's second date on CBS had a 50 percent drop in viewers,IFL folded,Affliction is already in dire straits after there PPV with supposed best P4P on the card couldn't even break 100k PPV buys, and Bodog last year did a PPV that did a pultry 19K and was broke and never did a show again. UFC will fade with time as the young frat guys with the mohawks, affliction t-shirts and barbed wire tatoos grow while Boxing will still be here and 5 years from now another fight will be deemed "The fight 2 save Boxing".
There is no reason for personal attacks. I'm a boxing fan as well as a MMA fan. I've paid for several of both PPV's this year. For comparison... Spike TV’s (Replay of Sherk vs. Penn) drew 433,000 Also, The UFC's two highest rated events on Spike TV are UFC 75 (5.93 million viewers at peak) and UFC Final Chapter: Ortiz vs. Shamrock III (5.89 million at peak) Finally... "EliteXC: PRIMETIME" event, which aired on CBS as part of the new "Saturday Night Fights" series, peaked with 6.51 million viewers during a main event between Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson and James Thompson, according to updated Nielsen ratings for May 31.
Post your source or GTFO Plus that crap about nobody ever dying in the UFC is bull****, last year a fighter died in Texas. Sure it wasn't the UFC but it was MMA.
Elite XC http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/06/01/nielsen-ratings-may-31-2008-mma-scores-with-youth-for-cbs/3993 UFC Fight Night 14 http://mmajunkie.com/news/4867/ufc-fight-night-14-peaks-with-3-8-million-viewers.mma
And while I see no reason to debate the injuries in boxing vs MMA, here's a list of the boxing deaths: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categoryeaths_due_to_injuries_sustained_in_boxing Add to that: From: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/83188/is_ultimate_fighting_safer_than_boxing.html
Another case in point... The Contender vs. The Ultimate Fighter series The Contender started out strong on NBC but after season 1, it failed. ESPN tried to make a go of it, but dropped the series. Other than Sergio Mora, none of the fighters held a world title. The Ultimate Fighter series is going strong and is entering it's 8th season. Several fighters have won or have fought for world titles. Do you need "sources" for these as well :deal
I think the difference is the undercards and the fact that in MMA they all seem to actually fight each other. It's why you see so many mediocre records, you don't have guys fighting tomato cans for 5 years (while actually being a part of the major MMA companies) before fighting anyone worth a damn. And on many of their ppvs you see multiple championship fights or fights featuring top 5 competition facing off against each other. 9/10 boxing undercards sicken me.
More MMA propaganda, you don't need to convince people that you like MMA more or you like the reality show more. Like I said post your source for those PPV numbers or GTFO.
Exactly. Can all of you MMA fanboys please just **** right off? There is a separate forum for your gay "sport". Stay there. :hi:
Actually, GSP, Lesnar, Couture, Liddell are the only BIG draws in the UFC. Silva has never really garnered alot of attention and has only drawn a maximum of 400,000 PPV buys on a STACKED card. Fitch, Machida (Boring as hell to your casual fan and most people have never heard of him) Bisping arent real draws. Bisping I guess is fairly big in England but in North America hes just another name. Considering Cotto is 27, Pavlik 25, Gamboa, Haye, Margarito, Dawson, Diaz, Katsidis are all young Boxing has a good future. It may never beat out UFC but there will always be big fights every year that the casual fan will tune into. UFC is highly marketed organization that is shoved down our throats. Its impossible to avoid. But dont get it twisted theres a reason why they brought in Brock Lesnar. When Couture, Liddell, Ortiz retire or leave in the case of Ortiz, they wont have a true PPV gate keeper. GSP is probably the most popular right now but he cant sell a PPV by himself. Same with Penn. Boxing is always going to be steady with a couple of big fights a year whereas UFC will keep doing what their doing and putting on frequent PPV's every 4-5 weeks.
