    Abolished or not?

I don't see any point in it at all. It's just pure greed AND it's an outdated model by a hell of a lot of years, too, especially living in the age that were are now (technologically speaking).

Correct, it is greed. These fighters, promoters and broadcasts could make millions without it, but its not enough for them as they want multi millions. PPV should only be used for the 2nd May sort of fights, maybe every few years at most. Certainly not the way it's used. It's fraud!

If they got rid of PPV, it would just go back to Closed Circuit.

PPV is a more enjoyable experience than CC, at least in my times going.

Boxing getting more sponsors and being on network TV is a bigger issue. 2015 is a step in the right direction.

I don't expect the biggest fights to be free, as said before, they were on CC before PPV, but smaller, weaker quality matchups being on network TV, or cable, is a lot better than it being on PPV.

As long as people are going to pay for these PPV's, then why are they going to abolish it? Most of the super stars in boxing right now are soon to retire, so they might find it hard to do PPV soon, but stars will come again, they always do.

Are there any major PPVs this year that don't involve Mayweather and/or Pacquiao? I think the promoters learned their lesson last year.

no there's too much money to be made in ppv. Until the networks start to fork out more (won't happen) PPV will be here forever.
