When you buy a PPV, for ANY fighter, do you care what the date is? Will you choose not to buy a fight because of the date or choose to buy one because of the date? For example: Would you purchase Cotto-Canelo only on May 2nd as opposed to July 20th? Does it even make a difference? For you, personally.
I'm asking what YOU do. Are you more likely to buy a PPV because of the date? Does the date (holiday, national day, etc) make a difference for YOU?
it shouldnt mean 2 fuc.ks for anyone. mike tyson vs michael spinks was HUGE in a day where PPV was in its infancy, where less than 25% of the nation was even being offered a way to order it and it was on a MONDAY NIGHT in June
I, personally, could care less about the date. If it is a good card, I will purchase it if it is on a Wednesday night. If the card is trash, as they have been lately, I won't be buying it.
and they have done poorly. People are getting tired of paying good money for an inferior product and maybe that's why Pac and Mayweather may finally fight next year.
The day of the week wouldn't make a whole lot of a difference for me much less the calendar date. If the fight fell on a Friday or Sunday night, I'd buy the PPV just the same.
The day of the week would make a difference for me, UNLESS it's a super fight. Otherwise, Saturday is the best day for me.
Personally, no. But I'm hoping Canelo-Cotto grabs May 2nd because I believe it would force Floyd to fight Manny Pacquiao. Floyd cannot compete against Canelo-Cotto w/ Khan or Garcia or Thurman.
It's marketing. Maybe hispanics care about the two dates Mayweather usually fights on (or around). I don't think any one else gives a damn. They heavily market those dates to hispanics because of the holidays
I can imagine that it matters if it's a national holiday (maybe even traditional) for one or both of the fighters, but in all other cases it doesn't mean one bit.
