It's all about the money. I accepted it. But it's killing the sport.

True is 90% of such called boxing fans prefer to pay to watch 2 neanderthals smash their heads to death than real boxing. And Canelo will make a lot more money that Lara will ever make.

The only one who can get away with that is Floyd because he is american, and talks a lot of **** to make it controversial. Not to say that Floyd isn't a great boxer. He is great. But I watched Lara give boxing class last night. I think he won 8-4. Commentators last night saw him win too. But it's not about boxing anymore. It's about money. And the crowd prefers to watch monkeys bang each others head than a perfected technique. They had Canelo connecting more power punches but 70% of those punches weren't clean connects like Lara's punches were.

True is still Lara is a better boxer. And both Cotto and Maidana did a better job against Floyd than Canelo did. But he is white and redhead, which sells good in USA to begin with, and have the great mexican fans supporting him.

I am glad he won in a way. Because I want to watch Canelo/Cotto. I still think Cotto doesn't belong at that weight class and most likely will lose. But I will love to watch the fight. And Cotto always has a good chance. He is a good boxer but likes to bang heads too. Just what most people wants to watch anyways.

I dont think its killing the sport but it would be nice for some top fighters every once in awhile fight on regular HBO, showtime to get more fans with them.

Lara didnt win 8-4, u have to count body shots and canelo's body work at least won him 5-7 rounds

Look at that fight again. Use the slow motion. Most of those body punches only hit Lara's arms

Boxing is the disproportionately biggest winner in the money extraction scheme. Anything that is exciting and draws enough fans is he big winner in the TV Sweepstakes Scheme. It is a joke that boxers are making anywhere close to what they are. But then this can be said for most professional athletes today. I hope professional sports goes the way of the music industry, where the public can access it without getting ripped off. The athletes, like the good musicians, will still make plenty of money but not the obscene amounts they are today. Things will change.

I had lara winning by 2 points. 117-111 for Canelo really?
This fight reminds me of Charvez Jr vs Vera.

I am not saying that. I am giving you the slow motion options in case you are one of those people who got blinded by all the mexicans screaming in the arena dumbass.

The case that the more exciting fighter is unjustly favored to win is almost indistinguishable from the truth that it is the fighter landing the heavier shots is more favored to win. As the fighter landing the heavier shots is usually the more exciting fighter. Ironically, all pure boxers are inherently fighting an uphill battle to win on the score cards. Soon as the fight starts they are typically going backward, which makes it harder to make the case for being aggressive, then the shots they throw are lighter, making the case for being more effective difficult. Those are the two main criteria for scoring that they usually throw right out the door from the get, they have to make up for that by clearly out landing, landing cleaner, or a combination of the two. So you see, the judges are actually scoring within the realm of the scoring criteria but what people see is some sort of favoritism for the more exciting fighter which is not the case, people just need to know how fight's are scored.

In this fight, this analysis may appear correct. But in the Provodnikov-Algieri fight the opposite occurred.

    As always, FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Provodnikov was the more popular fighter in that fight, your equation does not fit here.

I agree with what you said however in boxing/pretty much all combat sports when you have an established champion/attraction the expectation is that you have to really take that status from them.

Lara left way to much room for doubt. He should have been more active, in the early rounds he got off first and evade Canelo. However in the later rounds it started to look more like retreat.

I just don't understand why Lara did not throw a few more right hooks or varied combinations. He has the technique and handspeed... why just throw 1-2s all night???

He gave this fight away. Gave it away 1000X worse then De La Hoya/Trinidad and he only has himself to blame.

Also who is going to fight Lara next? He is a complete spoiler. Even if you win you everyone looks like **** fighting him.

Imagine Prov had won, and Pac chose him to fight, that fight would make a lot more money than the current Algeiri.
