I'm talking about boxers that fight 1 or 2 fights before the main event. Is it a small percentage of the overall gross, or is it a fixed number written on their contract? Anyone know what's the most common?
I think it's a fixed price agreed well before fight night, but when the guy who told me this said it,he was only 2 fights into his pro career and was well down the card on small bills. He's well into double figures now so I'm not sure if it answers the question here.
It all depends on the Commission....Such as, in the state of Georgia, all fighters appearing in or before the co-main event must be paid a minimum of $50.00 per scheduled/ contracted round.......... Link: http://www.sos.ga.gov/gaec/pdf/rules/boxingrules08.pdf Page 19, B).
To give you a lower limit, in Britain no matter how low down the card and on a local non televised show, you would earn roughly £500. With that amount you would have to pay, your coach, manager and potential promoter aswell! Hope that helps!
