I started watching boxing faithfully around 2003 but I can remember the days of totally 100% free boxing on cable
back then and as I came to learn even so far back as when it was on net work TV fighters had all sorts of styles
and that was the charm of watching the fights on Saturday afternoon you'd get a power puncher go up against a counter puncher or whatever the case may be
well with ppv coming along there is a need to make the most profit as it is pay per view .. and as a general rule of thumb the power punchers the knock out artist were pushed to the front
to the general person these were the more pleasing to the eye boxers
it took away a huge chunk of the stylistic pie and at the same time it made fighters who would be better to play a fight out and get the decision it would make them be more aggressive and go after the knock out .. it would make them something they wouldn't be if left to box organically rather then in a way that'd be more of an urge to win quicker in hopes to box under the brighter lights of ppv ...

if it was net work tv where just about everyone had the shot to play ...fights would be more organic ... you might have say a jermain taylor whose perfectly satisfied to box the way he wanted in the Olympics that had him going quiet successfully till he switched to a more aggressive style to be more appeasing ..
    things could be different ..

Bob Arum plans on bankrupting his company rather than conform. Crawford vs Postol is not worth $60 PPV.

OP, your argument is garbage since Floyd Mayweather Jr is the #1 ppv star of all time.

he is BECAUSE of that not everyone is gonna have his skill
he had the skill to win how he wanted to with his style and the people hated that and they tuned in to watch him lose because they hated that he did it on his own terms

not everyone is gonna have the skill to do it that way

Be realistic, Mayweather came from that PPV era of Tyson, Holyfield, De La Hoya, Pacquiao and he is #1 of the PPV era.

His career was already at the end when streaming and things came along. The new guys will not be able to survive in that format anymore, at least at the ridiculous price of $60 HD.

How many bars are gonna buy this fight. UFC is king at the bars in San Diego and L.A.. Unless it's Mayweather the PPV game is dead meat and even he is getting burned by the computer era.

Look at those Berto numbers and think about it.:think
GGG vs David could have been better if this was 2001.:think
Pacquiao vs Bradley 3 could have done Pacquiao vs Clottey numbers if this was 2010.:think

if you were in there with a guy and was faced with either going full throttle on a guy knowing it'll lead to a huge ppv contract
or stick to what you're successful with and just win and keep getting the regular fights till you're really ready for ppv

if you get caught going full throttle you've blew your build up when you could have just won going the way you fight organically ..

I mean yeah you got foremans and such who just come through blowing people away and that's their style

i just mean those that blow their build up trying to fight a style that they aren't meant to fight to get a ppv contract
