I thought before the fight 900k-1.1m, I'd be shocked if it was under 900k. And 1.1-1.2m PPV buys won't be required for them to break even, even paying Mayweather 32m, the purses combined were about 36m, the gate was 15m.... leaving 21m needed in profits to pay the fighters, 700k buys generates 42m without adding sponcership, advertising, reruns on CBS. I don't know how much it costs for showtime to put something like this on but I suspect it'll be less than the 66-72m figure being banged about for them to break even.
Basically Rafael and Iole have numbers from one of the dish providers and are making conclusions based on very little of the overall reach. There are patterns to this type of thing so it's valid to speculate but the final numbers being less than a million are far from being validated and confirmed. Anyway, less than a million works for me as I want to see him shut out Canelo in September anyway.
Half of that 42 million goes to the PPV provider. So you are left with 21 mil to work with and both Mayweather and Guerrero had PPV upside. 1.2 is required for Showtime to break even.
