Rolling, head movement, setting up the right hand, bringing back hands, covering chin etc. Good feedback appreciated. Shitty camera angle, missed the 3xjab stepping backward, pivot and rotate out. This was after a heavy lifting workout and I have gotten FAT but just posting to get some motivation and some positive feedback.
Whether the feedback is positive or not depends upon how you take it and what you do with it. I'm going to be honest, there wasn't much to be impressed with. I'm not saying you don't have potential, but you're not doing much right. The first thing is, you're not putting any snap in your punches. If you're going to keep your arm extended, ESPECIALLY if you're going to keep your arms extended, you need to snap your punch. It appears like your pushing your punches with significantly hinders both your speed and your power. You're capable of much more, but your technique is not allowing you to express your potential. Also, you're leaning forward too much when you punch. That works for some guys like Cestillino Cabellero who made a career out of doing it, but I don't agree with his technique. Work on that, then post another video.
Great point, on the earlier combination 11 2 were my punches not snapping and at the end of my range? I started pushing it later on because I can't keep the bag in the same place. If I throw 3x 11 2 in a row I will start missing because the bag is moving . How do people fix this in training? Also why is your post/text so spaced out?
Firstly, full credit for giving it a go and looking for advice to help improve yourself. But what you demonstrated in the video needs improvement in nearly every area. Get yourself a good trainer - if you haven't already - and do everything he says in order to improve yourself. Without being too unkind, your fitness needs work too.
With newbies, the bag swings a lot because you're not punching fast enough, so the punches are more of a 'push' than an impact. In many sports, they teach you to "follow through" on everything. i.e. A baseball swing, golf swing etc... In boxing, that could be useful at times - but most punches should simply bounce off the bag, and your arm should retract immediately. In the case of a hook to the body, you can bounce/retract your arm OR follow though - but as long as the fist still bounces off the target - think of the same motion as chipping a piece off a block of ice. Speed hurts people, pushing simply wastes more of your own energy and doesn't hurt your opponent. Think of a bullet (or by that same measure, a car)....going fast enough, it will kill someone. Going too slow, one will simply bounce off the other. Sometimes, it's not about how much weight is behind something, it's how fast it's coming. Without the follow-through/pushing, the bag will swing less. Another thing to try is to hit the bag 'against' the swing, so that your next set of punch(es) always counter the swinging motion. Good luck, welcome to boxing. Have fun and make sure to update us on your progress.
snap your punches keep you back hand up well just don't drop your hands and the most important part.......don't forget to breathe
like the rest, I agree you need more snap in your punches, work and focus on pivoting off the foot and rotating your hips and core with your cross and hooks, you look like you are pushing/tapping the bag as opposed to punching through it/having some pop.:good
