    I´ll start out:

can´t stand hopkins. He is a racist, comes of as a brainfart and i find his style boring as hell! Loved it when the white boy beat him.

I have a suspicion, that he is PED´s, BUT..

what an insane tactician, he knows almost every subtle trick in the book. A true student of the game, that is not even debateable. He is not a knock out type of guy, which often leaves him with one option and that is a 12 round ud. The exact opposite of what it shoud be, for a man close to half a century.

his sense of timing and distance, set uo with awesome footwork, is what keeps this old lion in the business.

So far, hopkins have only lost to one fighter, who didn´t have an advantage in athletic ability, but he did have the energy of a duracell bunny and could swarm and tire hopkins. That is impressive indeed. While this sentence contains sligth critisism, it´s important in regards to the next part.

Lets pretend that it is possible for 2 fighters, perhaps i should use the term fantasy fight, to have the same physical stats/traits. Heck i would even give Hopkins a 1% disadvantage - alot at their level - and i´d have a hard time thinking of a figher who´d beat him. Like i said, i dont like the ****er, but had hopkins and jones/taylor/calzaghe been equals in terms of physical ability, i actually think hopkins would beat them easely.

    Your turn...

Floyds got a much better mentality for fighting than giving credit for, his preparation is always perfect and in fights he's much tougher physically and mentally than most people think. He fights without much ego and does what it takes to win , when he's fouled he will foul back, he has a good chin and actually does fight in the pocket often.

the bolded are awesome abservations jim jim, i especially like the one about not fighting with an ego. Really good shout and true imo. Pretty boy doesn´t care if it looks pretty, he wants to win and thats why he is a winner. I hadn´t thought of that myself, so like i said a good shout out.

If PEDs makes him do what he does, then why haven't we seen more 50 year old fighters perform?

    Great thread.

I can't stand Mayweather but he is the best of this era.
    - Amazing defense.
    - Adjusts.
    - Good chin.
    - Strong mentally.
    - Been on top for many years.
    - He would beat Pac if he was prepared to risk it.

Not of relevance scar, i´d just like for posters to mention a fighter they can´t stand, but look past it and explain what makes him a great fighter.

    So how about it?

Good thread, and i'd probably rip off the OPs choice of fighter, but i'll go with Marquez

He's not my favourite fighter, but he's arguably the best Mexican fighter of all time, has been in with p4p Manny 4 times always at a disadvantage and arguably winning them all, twice boxing Mannys brains off and another giving us one of the greatest KOs in boxing history - at the age of 40

He also had the balls to step up and face Mayweather while being old and 2 weight classes too small

He used to be too good, but changed his entire style to become more aggresive so he could be marketed more

Destroyed 135 which was at the time the strongest division in boxing, while Manny took on the weakest link David Diaz then jumped the hell outta there. He's far surpassed Pacquiao in terms of resume, H2H, everything

He persevered whist Barerra and Morales were getting all the glory and recognition, he was being ducked to hell, and unknown, he would have humiliated Naz even worse than Barerra. But he kept plugging away, then eventually got his shot, and eventually surpassed his 2 great Mexican contemporaries

Stunningly, the only time he has been clearly beaten in his 64 fights is by the 2 weight classes bigger Floyd Mayweather, despite having been in with a who's who of boxing

OK i cheated, i'll do it properly

Pacquiao is easily the fighter i hate most, for a billion reasons, but i'll give him his due

Drug aided or not, he was still incredibly fast and hard punching

He had some of the coolest posters on the old ESB (who mainly posted in the Tambaya - NOT the General forum clowns)

He went from relying on his brutal speed and power to learning some serious skills, became extremely hard to hit, worked in great combos, became a devastating offensive fighter who was tough as hell to hit cleanly

He also had a great chin

Theres a reason Mayweather avoided him. Drugs or not, he was a devastatingly fast powerful evasive mother****er who made me **** my pants everytime one of my favourite fighters stepped in the ring with him

Amir Khan is trying to cherrypick his way into a big fight and talks way too much.

But his natural talents is amazing, fastest hands in boxing imo. I think if he can improve the style he foughts vs collazo he can pretty much beat anyone at 147

    There's certain fighters I don't care for but I can't say I hate them

    It's not that serious .

I didn't care for Winky Wright back in his day and rooted against him

    Boring style
    Unappealing fights

But I have to respect the guy , no matter what fighter they put in front of him . Fighters never looked good against him . He always gave practically EVERY OPPONENT hell and outclassed em

Had a very solid defense as well , good jab .

Winky Wright was just a stylistic nightmare for everyone and even I have to praise him for what he was .

I strongly dislike Deontay Wilder due the hype surrounding him due to knocking out 32 sub-standard pieces of **** however he has superhuman power and has the ability to win any fight due to what he packs into a punch and if he catches clean then he swarms like a plague. Plus I find it exciting watching him due to the fact that he will knock out or else be knocked out #GlassJaw

I truly can't say I hate any fighter. I hate certain cults but not any fighter themselves
