Off the top of my head Louis and Dempsey would be pretty competitive today.
You'll find the vast majority of people disagree.

All those men were modern boxers.

Their chance is for one lucky punch, but that's about it. That's why I said they have none. Hell, with that in mind, even I have a chance, maybe they have a heart attack. :p
Realistically speaking, their chances are below 10 %.

They might just be, but in the cruiserweight division, not at HW.

We are comparing the top ATG's here, not the tier beneath them. But since you brought it up, Brewster would have beaten Marciano.

Laughable. Brewster was a punching bag who waited for people to let up, Marciano never let up.

    Of course they’re modern boxers.

The point is, if those fighters were able to trouble and beat those guys, there’s no way you could completely write of guys like Louis and Dempsey.

It doesn’t matter what era they fought in. It’s how they’d have matched up stylistically that’s important.

Obviously you possess no knowledge of that era.

I've seen enough footage of them to know they can't win, their chances are slim to none.

Marciano does not have the skill to win.

    I don’t believe you.

Any fan who possessed even just brief knowledge of those guys wouldn’t write them off in the way that you have done.

    You can’t be taken seriously.

Of course they COULD have won.

A ruthless finisher and a guy who possessed speed and explosive power?

Was Corrie Sanders light years ahead of Joe Louis and Jack Dempsey?

Was Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman?

You’re just another guy who looks at the era instead of the styles.

Considering the most dominant cruiserweight in the last 20+ years has moved up to heavyweight and will likely continue to dominate there that actually supports my position.

Joe Louis is really the only early to mid 20th century heavyweight that I would realistically give a chance against some of the modern heavys. He would still be at a size disadvantage against most of them but at least he proved he could beat much larger and stronger men as well as an array of skilled fighters of varying styles. At 6’1” 205 lbs he’d be closer to the cruiserweight division but with the small addition of 10 lbs he’d do ok at 215. Would he lose some ? Probably. But I can also see him winning a title and definitely having a presence .

They were great for their era and I respect them for that. But that does not mean I'm gonna pretend like they stand a chance against modern ATG's.

No, but he was bigger, stronger and had a better left hook than either of them. Plus he faced a young pre-Steward Wladimir. Huge difference.
In these hypothetical H2Hmatchup, we use the peak version of every fighter, not the pre-prime version.

All these guys did was to land a lucky power punch.

What is this? :D Louis had arguably the best left hook ever and Dempsey was the other who could be argued that way.
