Cooper was absolute garbage though and would not be a top 20 European heavyweight today.

So Highguard, would you agree now that the eastern bloc's involvement in pro boxing is the main reason for the USA no longer dominating boxing? its only ever really been welterweight and above that the USA has dominated and looking at the major belt holders from 147 to heavyweight 11 out of 28 are held by former eastern bloc countries.
Although home advantage makes a difference I think in the majority of fights the best fighter wins regardless of whether they are home or away

ahh cooper was a good fighter,

    and ncc84

yes usually the best fighter wins
but the thing often when you have top guys

the difference is very small in skill and talent
    so every little advantage helps.

ofcourse guys like hagler would always be great champions

    but average belt holders
thats where things could change a lot

The global talent pool has expanded.

Still waiting for India and China to get in the game.

America has taken sport immensley seriously and i think pre 90,s they were the 1st to throw more money at the sport, and other sports than everybody else, they always seem to be the 1st to think of advancments in training and diet techniques and all that. They just throw everything into sport, something as a Brit ive been very jealous of.

And it seemed to take other countries a good few years to catch up. Britiain, South America and other countries still had their share of quality cuz when you unearth a future brilliant fighter the talents there and they will rise to the top but when you wonder why America had so many i think its more down to their advancments in the sport.

Home turf fighting and all that helps but then they would always make the most money having Americans prospects and champions fighting in America just made sense, even to their opponants.
