Last week while i was watching the FMJ and SSM fight i noticed there were alot of former and active boxers in the arena. That made me think, from the old fights I've seen on ESPN Classic before a fight the announcer would usually introduce all of the fighters present. Why don't they do that anymore and when did they stop doing that?

I have seen that when watching old fights. I don't know when it stopped as i am youngish so i wasn't around when they used to do it but i am glad that it doesn't occur anymore. The pre fight intros are long enough.

It happens, at Calzaghe - Manfredo they introduced Ray Leonard and at Haye - Maccarinelli they introduced Holyfield.

But yeah, nothing like what you see when watching old fights, maybe it simply fell out of fashion because guys like us were too impatient waiting to see some leather thrown!
