There is no way that a young Calzaghe could have out boxed a prime Roy Jones. But there is no doubt this would have been Jone's biggest test. Pre prime Calzaghe was an absolute beast, whom had enough power in even his slaps to knock down the toughest of fighters. I see Calzaghe winning by way of stoppage having somewhere in the mid-rounds via way of 'lucky' knockdown followed by the referee stepping in. He would be comfortably losing at the time, but that doesn't matter. At this time in their careers Jones is undoubtably the superior and more complete boxer. However Calzaghe had the attributes back then that would have won him the fight. Prime Jones is better than 1997 Calzaghe but loses anyway. That is my opinion, what is yours? You are an idiot if you think 1997 Calzaghe wins on points.
Jones's biggest test? Against a guy that struggled woefully with Robin ****ing Reid?? Your brain has surely drowned in Welsh semen.
Jones may well stop Calzaghe, but a KO is almost impossible. Calzaghe is too durable and even when unconscious his instincts would see him stand and beat the count.
Calzaghe broke his hand early in that fight and had to fight one handed and Robin Reid was a really good fighter who deserved to beat Sven Ottke.
Calzaghe broke his hand early in that fight. There is nothing stupid about these threads. Jones may be a better ATG boxer but no matter what Calzaghe would have been a really tough test for Jones anytime. That guy with Duran as his pic is a biased idiot so is Tito fan. Calzaghe is a better fighter than Hopkins and we all saw how much of a tough test a green Hopkins gave Roy Jones. The Hopkins Calzaghe fought was tougher than the one Jones fought and Calzaghe landed more punches than anyone ever has before on Hopkins whether they were pitter patter punches or not. You watch a young Calzaghe if you think Pavlik was a beast because all these idiots critasizing these threads are the same hypocryts that posted threads like Pavlik v. Jones. Besides one of Roy Jones tested positive for steroids in one of his prime fights and the results only came back years later. These threads are certainly less stupid than the ones with people saying Jones is gonna win tonight.
OK, the Joe Calzaghe that got taken to a points decision by Rick ****ing Thornberry then Roy Jones would've embarrassed Robin Reid if he had two broken hands, a blindfold on, and stilettos on. :good
