I do not seeing the Ukrainian cruiser and I do not see him beating Beterbiev either. Kovalev should try to fight Stevenson. I do not think that that will happen Kovalev and Beterbiev will have to fight one another and the winner will fight Ward or Stevenson. In the mean time those two will just play it safe.

its at least a dubious win.

I thuink a draw is fair, given kovalev looked more in control longer and got ther kd

this is really harsh, ward has never entertained facing a weakling like clev for a title fight.

    Fonfara????

FFS...Abraham would rips his head off his shoulders as would Tony Dirrell and Dre Dirrel would likely KO him while running away from him.

He hit the lottery getting the china chinned Pimp and a massacred Campillo and weight drained pot head to fight him.

It just baffles me how they say "80% of the people think kovalev won", then turn around and act like that 20% doesn't exist lol

^To be fair. There are people out there that thought:

    Bradley beat Pac
    Chavez drew/beat Whitaker
    Floyd Canelo was close
Holyfield beat Lennox in fight 1
    and so on..........

Fact is, the vast majority of fans/media thought Kovalev won the fight. Some may not like it but it is what it is. The silver lining is that '20%' can rest knowing that Ward actually got the decision. That seems to give them some comfort. That 80% you mention have to deal with Ward getting the gift and Kov getting shafted.

Do you remember who won Leonard-Hagler II? Mayweather-Delahoya II? Garcia-Matthysse II?

A LOT of fanboys still butthurt like Gil. They say Ward is classless when Kovalev accused the judges of being bought out by Ward's team. Ward is the boogieman who is not going away lol

Wow. Floyd/Oscar and Garcia/Matthysee were no where near the level of Leonard and Haglar.

I don't expect a rematch any time soon. He took a 9 month break after winning the Super 6 saying he needed time off and having just had his toughest fight by far he's probably going to take another break. If the rematch happens I expect late 2017 at the earliest based off of Ward's previous modus operandi.

What happens when he's back is hard to say, he's notoriously difficult to deal with. If the rematch hasn't already been contractually agreed he will like try and use the rematch as a way to get a lucrative deal with HBO. No big money, multi fight deal, no rematch, at least that's what I would do.

He'll spout some bull about Kovalev needing to prove himself before a rematch like he did with Bute. If he doesn't he'll find some way to torpedo his career again based off of previous behaviour. I hope he doesn't but the man just seems to have a pathological compulsion to phuck himself over at every turn when on top.

This stuff is funny to me. Fans are really gullible. From my understanding, the terms for the rematch have already been negotiated in the first fights contract. Ward has made it clear that he now wants a deal that makes more "sense" and from the standpoint that he's not the "challenger" anymore. Kathy Duva can't try to plead her case on a moral victory. Sadly it's in her fighters best interest to concede to Wards new demands to get the rematch made. Ward is just putting on this show because he wants more money. This retirement talk is just a bluff but it's one that Team Kov has to treat seriously. Kov doesn't have a better option other than the rematch. Who's he going to fight? Finally convince Stevenson? I think it's a smart move by Ward. He's been depicted as the villain anyways. Why not use as an advantage in negotiations.
