I think Lewis fought most of the best out there, but he did miss out on a few fights. 1 ) Bowe. Assume Bowe is in his prime, and not the guy who fought Golota. 2 ) Morrer. Lewis said he didn't like lefty's. 3 ) Ibeabuchi - Even Lewis said though would have been a tough one. 4 ) Re-match with V. Klitschko. 5 ) Chris Byrd - Dropped a belt to avoid him. A South Paw. 6 ) John Ruiz - Oh how I want this one to happen! 7 ) A re-match with Ray Mercer, who some felt deserved a draw. How would Lewis do in the above seven fights? I don't think two to three losses is out of the question.
Mostly agree, though Ike I think would have been 50/50, and Morrer could very well land lottery punch. I think Ruiz would be out inside 4 rounds. Byrd would be interesting, Mercer is he is focused would be interesting as well.
Bowe V Lewis: depends on when the fight happens. I think when Bowe was in his prime, Lewis still hadn't reached his yet, and that when Lewis entered his prime Bowe was already on the downslide. If it happens when Bowe was in his prime then he wins, if it happens when Lewis was in his then Lewis wins. If it happened in an alternate universe where both of their primes aligned, I'd pick Lewis to win a razor thin decision or maybe a late stoppage. Moorer V Lewis: I think Lewis stops him in the 6th in what up to that point would've been a fairly competitive fight. Ibeabuchi V Lewis: I think this would look a bit like the Mercer fight at times and like Lewis' fight with Tua at others. I reckon Lewis would win a pretty close UD V.Klitschko V Lewis: I think Vitali probably would have won by a close decision or maybe late TKO. Lewis wasn't getting any younger. Byrd V Lewis: I think this would end up being remembered as one of the most dull heavyweight title fights of it's time. It would have very little action for most of it's duration. I think Lewis would get the decision for doing a bit more and maybe knocking Byrd down at some point. Ruiz V Lewis: Lewis TKO 10 Mercer V Lewis: Lewis wins a clear decision.
I tend to go against the guys who ducked the fight .. I favor Lewis as it was said Futch didn't want the fight thinking at the end of the day that Lewis would be just too strong but Evander Holyfield who should know seems to favor a prime Bowe .. Lewis crushes Moorer I feel Ike was legit but awe simply didn't see enough of him to pick him .. Lewis may carefully box him like he did Tua or McCall in the rematch .. No clue .. maybe Vitali based on Lennox's age .. Lewis decision or TKO over Byrd who was both an amazing fighter and absurdly underrated .. Lewis beats up Ruiz decisively ..
1) Loses to motivated Bowe in 1993. Bowe had the better chin and Lewis wasn't polished enough 2. Moorer- Moorer had a weak chin and Lewis will crack him. I can see Moorer leading on the scorecards after 6 rounds but i dont think he can keep it up 3. Ibeaubuchi- Close UD 12 but Ike has a real punchers chance. 4. Vitali rematch- loses this one. Lewis was on the downside, Vitali was on the upside. 5. Byrd- Lewis UD 12 in a boring fight. 6. Ruiz- Lewis destroys the terrible Ruiz who had no weapons to beat him. 7. Mercer- Lewis wins a close one again, Mercer was a bit past it.
1 ) Bowe. The Bowe who beat Holyfield 1 beats pre-Steward Lewis in 5, Lewis would get knocked out. After that. Bowe does worse and worse against him. I think even the Bowe who beat Holyfield III would have been beat by Lewis. 2 ) Morrer. Lewis ko in 10. 3 ) Ibeabuchi - Even Lewis said though would have been a tough one. 4 ) Klitschko TKO in 11.
At the early 90 s stage he'd lose I belive to Bowe, but not sure if on points or ko. He'd stop Moorer, to hard a puncher for him. Ike could be a Mercer type fight with a split decision win for Lennox. He'd stop Vitali again, Klitchko ends up fighting to defensive and loses a decision. Lennox always did better in rematch s. Byrd, out point s him for a portion of the fight, Lennox comes on to stop him late. Ruiz. Loses a one sided fight, gets almost kod several times but survival is his skill. A rematch with Mercer, Lennox once again taken to the wire, once again gets the slim decision.
Bowe: would be a tough fight, id favor Lewis to take him out since Bowe would get hit A LOT and I don’t think he can afford that with Lewis. Would probably be very exciting with both guys throwing a lot of leather. Moorer: likely an easy fight, I know Lewis didn’t like southpaws but Moorer was just way too chinny to compete with big heavyweight punchers. Lewis likely badly rocks Moorer or drops him with the first right hand that lands clean. Ike: Very tough fight for Lewis but I would still favor him to get a very tight decision. Vitali rematch: bad fight for Lewis, he was already showing his age at this point and was losing the first fight. Vitali would be too young, big, and strong, Vitali stops Lewis in a rematch. Byrd: honestly haven’t seen much of Byrd, but from what I’ve seen Lewis might stop him late. Ruiz: Lewis ko early but I’m bias since I hate Ruiz Mercer rematch: Lewis by a clearer decision, I fell like Mercer just overwhelmed Lewis in the first fight, the second Lewis knows what to except and likely comes in more prepared.
1 ) Bowe. - Lewis by KO and probably in the first few rounds. Even Futch saw this as the likely outcome 2 ) Morrer. Lewis by KO 3 ) Ibeabuchi -Lewis wide UD 4 ) Re-match with V. Klitschko - either Lennox by KO or cuts or Vitali UD 5 ) Chris Byrd - Lewis shut out 6 ) John Ruiz - Lewis KO 7 ) A re-match with Ray Mercer - Lewis wide UD, more convincing.
1) Bowe beats Lewis in 1993, but that wasn't the best version of Lewis. Steward-trained version of Lewis would be a hard task to handle even for prime version of Bowe 2) Moorer would give Lewis some troubles early but eventually Lennox caughts him and stops with a right hand in rounds 6-7 3) Lewis beats Ibeabuchi by UD 4) Vitali stops lewis in re-match in 2004 5) Lewis beats Byrd by close UD at the point of their careers when they could have met 6) Lewis beats Ruiz by mid-round TKO. Remember, that version of Lewis (2000) looked as good as ever 7) Lewis beats Mercer in rematch by 7-3 margin in 1997
No, he actually did much worse in the rematch with Holyfield, the second fight was MUCH closer than the first one. And he was aging in 2003, he lost some of his speed and reflexes and that was the main reason why Vitali gave him a hell in the ring. Yes, I know Lewis said he ages like a good vine, but no one can beat age. IF it was a prime version of Lewis, I'd agree with you
My picks 1 ) Bowe. Early 1990's. The timing is everything here, and I said a focused Bowe. While Lewis became a better fighter that was in the mid 1990's. I'm going with Bowe, who would likely be down on points before ending the match with a combination or big right hand. This fight could go either way, but an early 1990's Bowe, trained by Futch before Lewis got his balance down, takes it. Bowe TKO 9 2 ) Moorer. Mid 1990's/ This fight would tell us a lot about Lewis, who didn't like lefties and didn't look good vs. the one he fought. I'll go with Lewis here, who would use his superior reach and size. Moorer has a punchers chance, but he'd have to cash in quickly. Lewis via 6th Round KO 3 ) Ibeabuchi - Mid 1990's. Able to go toe to toe with the best Tua, ever and track down and take out a prime Chirs Byrd, Ike proved much in his career that was cut short. He also had a solid jab. The fight comes down to this, could Lewis keep Ike off and take him out? If he can't, he's in trouble as Ike was a pressure fighter. I like Ike slightly down on points to suddenly end it. Lewis' chin lets him down at some point. Ike via 9th round TKO. 4 ) Re-match with V. Klitschko. 2003-2004 . Lewis was down 4-2 in all cards in a fight that was stoped on cuts. I like Vitali here to wear down Lewis and take him out around round 8. Vitali via TKO. There is a reason Lewis didn't take the re-match. He didn't think he could win it. 5 ) Chris Byrd - Early 2000's This would be a fun fight to watch, not because it woudl be close, but because of Lewis big ego would be sore after not looking good. I think at this point, Byrd could last the distance and have his share of , moments, but the decision would be Lennox's by narrow margin ( Byrd was a Don King fighter ). On fair scorecards, it would be a clean 8-4 or 9-3 decision for Lewis. 6 ) John Ruiz - Early 2000's. Oh how I want this one to happen! Ruiz who called Lewis a girl, would be in over his head, and probably take out in style inside 5 rounds. Lewis via TKO 5. 7 ) Re-match Ray Mercer Mid 1990's. While the first fight was close, you just can't count on Mercer being sharp again. I think Lewis takes an easy decision this time around fighting cautiously. Lewis UD, 9-3. You could argue that the competition here is greater than Lewis fought, as Tyson was too far gone, and Lewis waited for Holyfield to slow down a bit. I have Lewis at 4-3.
I have Lewis going 6-1. Lennox stops any Bowe IMO. Prime Bowe was countered silly by Biggs and Tubbs, both of whom gave him a real run for his money. He was hurt by Holyfield, he was hurt by Biggs, and he was hurt by Hide and Golota. Lewis finds his chin late and takes him out. At any point in there careers, it just happens early and earlier as they get older. Assuming this happens around 96/97, Lewis takes Moorer out with ease. Steward knew Moorer inside and out as a fighter, and Lewis' 1-2 would land much earlier than Foreman's did. Ibeabuci is overrated as ****. He didn't even beat Tua, and it's not exactly hard to overwhelm a guy you outweigh by 40lbs. Lewis serves him a schooling like he did vs Tua. If Ike goes all out Lewis lights him up so bad Ike walks away with half a face. Provided the cut doesn't reopen, Vitali beats Lewis pillar to post. Mercer gives a good account of himself again, but Lewis adjusts and boxes more, winning a wider decision in a longer fight. If Lewis has a chip on his shoulder and doesn't like how Ruiz was talking about him, then he John sees flash backs to the Tua fight. Byrd vs Lewis would be immensely boring and Lewis' better jab and smarter fighting wins a clean cut UD.
Imo, the Bowe of 93/94 might beat the Lewis of the same period. It could have gone either way, but I might pick that Bowe. Vitali probably beats Lewis in a 2004 rematch barring cuts, injuries. The rest Lennox likely wins. Lewis TKO 8 Moorer. Lewis UD Ibeabuchi. Lewis UD Byrd. Lewis TKO 9 Ruiz. Lewis UD Mercer.
