Someone with a good-looking record but who isn't very good, to fool the casuals into believing Anderson is better than he really is. Tom Schwarz Arnold Gjergjaj Patrick Korte Michael Wallisch
You didn't read my 2nd sentence - As always, it comes down to the critical "risk-reward" ratio. This isn't about getting fights to make Anderson a better fighter - it's about getting fights to make Anderson a more lucrative fighter
Why? I don't think Hammer would beat Anderson - but Hammer is 100% not the guy to fight if you want to look good. Cases in point... Sanchez, Yoka, Hughie Fury and Joe Joyce all fought Hammer in the last year or so. All beat him. All but the first stopped him. But the post-fight analysis and press was all about how they either failed to stop him (Sanchez), didn't stop him quickly enough (Yoka), only stopped him because he got hurt (H. Fury) or couldn't avoid getting hit flush by him along the way (Joe Joyce). No I don't have proof - but I'd bet Anderson's camp made up the hand injury excuse when they realized that Hammer would do just well enough against Anderson to generate some negative buzz in the press about him.
That's the general idea. I'll walk through your list. Anderson probably isn't going to stop Schwarz faster than Tyson Fury did. Schwarz could definitely hang around in that fight. So I'd rule him out. Anderson may or may not be able to stop Wallisch faster than Yoka/Joyce/Gassiev all managed recently. So I'd probably rule him out. Korte and Gjergjaj seem like they could be candidates. Both have been relatively active recently. Andreson could stop both in a couple of rounds. I still think Francesco Pianeta will be the pick. Like I said, the story there is that Anderson can make a big impression by stopping Pianeta - when Fury did not. Of course - Fury never tried to seriously box Pianeta - but that's besides the point. I'm sure Tyson Fury will play along when/if Anderson manages the feat, too, as he's been very complimentary of Anderson. That's not surprising given that Anderson and Fury share a promoter!
Two reasons for that: He was stopped by Yoka in 2021. That took away some momentum from his career. He is promoted by Burim Sylejmani - who is a very small player. I think Milas would take the fight if offered and I suspect his promoter/manager would not object ;-)
Oddly, Arreola's walking corpse has proven a lot more popular than his live self was during his prime.
Top Rank isn't known for building up their guys records slowly. Actually, Top Rank isn't know for building up their guys at all. Usually, they just kind of swoop in and poach already well-credentialed fighters with promises of big fights. That's been particularly true for Heavyweights. Fury, Ruiz Jr, etc. were more or less the finished product when they signed them.
Stick him in with Gassiev, Jalolov, Makhmudov or Dychko Thats an acceptable first loss that he can come back from
Yes - with the exception of Pianeta. Francesco really hasn't been up to much since his loss to Wlad. But - like I said - I think he is the guy based on his history with Fury.
