Golovkin turns 34 this April. By April 2018 he will be 36. I don't see him fighting past that year. 2 more fights in 2016. 3 fights in 2017.2 fights in 2018 and that's a wrap. This would put him at, hopefully, 42-0.

    Michael Spinks at 32
    Calzaghe retired at 36
    De La Hoya at 35
    Floyd at 38
    Hagler at 35
    Kessler's last fight at 34
    Froch last fight at 37
    Nigel Benn at 32
    Lennox Lewis at 38
    Ricky Hatton at 34
    Kelly Pavlik at 30
    Fernando Vargas at 30
    Kostya Tszyu at 36
    Meldrick Taylor at 36
    Kermit Cintron at 35
Antonio Margarito at 33 (for real)

Sure, there are many fighters that keep fighting longer than they should. I hope Golovkin hangs up the gloves as soon as he starts losing it. I like to see a fighter leave the game on top.

If the above scenario takes place then there is a good chance that we will never see the Canelo Golovkin fight. Canyellow can easily wait out GGG. By 2018, Canelo will be 27-28, in his prime. He can then call out an older faded GGG and say "lets go stop ducking me" and his fans will eat it up. If only GGG was 30 right now. Those 3 years so crucial. When fighters have a 9 year age gap, its a problem.

He can "easily" stay in the game until 40, but how effective will he be? Ive seen so many fighters suddenly lose it after 34,35,36.

I believe ggg is the type of fighter that can fight at an advanced age. He has great fundamentals, he doesn't take a lot of punishment, he doesn't fight in long gruelling wars, and his power will always be exceptional at 160. If light heavyweights that he spars with say he has unbelievable power, how is anybody at 160 gonna be able to withstand his onslaught? I truly believe the most talented 154 pounders such as Andrade, Julian williams and the Charlo brothers are praying for the day that ggg retires or starts to show a significant decline so they can move up to 160. Lots of talent at 154 but they seem to be unwilling to make the jump up. Ggg is the reason although they won't admit it.

He looks so damn good right now, I think that you can revise that date 2 years on.

I literally cannot think of a single fighter who was better after age 35 than before age 35.

I think ortiz is really like 40 and he can fight like hell right now, could've been much better mid 30's but don't know of any fights at his earler ages. No idea his real ages.

And ggg us listed at 34 right now and he looks like he's absolutely praked at 34. He's never looked better than right now. He has 5 more years and his insanely prime.

Never taken any punishment that I've seen, never really been knocked off facking Balance for crying out load. Time is on his side, that's the bottom line

Marquez. Slightly slower, but much more powerful. Bradley described Marquez's power as being "bricks".
