Tonight there are 3 - 12 round fights with 2 being championship fights.

You have Ali Funeka vs Nate Campbell (Campbell didn't make weight) vacant IBF & WBO titles for Funeka

    Alfred Angulo vs Cosme Rivera

Sergio Gabriel Martinez vs Kermit Cintron (WBC interim light middleweight title)

    My predictions for tonights fights are;

Campbell dec. Funeka 12 rounds - there's a reason why Campbell didn't make weight ... I think he's looking to jump in weight and get the winner or loser of Pacquiao v Hatton ... or the winner of Marquez v Diaz (if Marquez wins)

Angulo TKO Rivera - Rivera's too old, he's a journeyman, and hasn't beat anyone of significance over quite some time. Angulo's the bigger guy, he will impose his will on Rivera and Rivera would be looking to survive past the mid point of the fight -- too much pressure

Martinez TKO Cintron - Cintron isn't a light middleweight and his boxing skills aren't up to par ... Martinez will out box him and past the mid point start looking for the stoppage. Martinez is the faster fighter ... the naturally bigger fighter ... and the better technician.

    What do you guys think?

I agree with everything except for the main event. I don't think Campbell is as good as the Juan Diaz fight suggested, and the disappointment with not making weight is only going to hamper him even further. Funeka late TKO. He has a lot of power, and is the much bigger guy.

I think we might get some real good fights tonight.

I don't think Campbell's all that either, but he's definitely one of the best lightweights in the world.

He has the upperhand on funeka in quality of opposition - fighting in diverse settings - on the job experience

He has what it takes to win over 12 rounds ... and maybe even buzz funeka ... if he gets on the inside ... he's going to make funeka pay.

I guess we shall see. I'm a neutral in all of tonight's fights.

i think you're wrong about the Angulo/Rivera fight. Yes, Rivera is a journeyman, but on one week's notice, any fighter can give you trouble. I think this will be the most competitive fight of the night.

Nate is in for a long night, or short night, however you want to look at it. He can't be in a good frame of mind going into this fight. I can see Funeka hurting him early and Nate jumping on his bicycle for the remainder of the contest. if Funeka can cut off the ring effectively, Nate will get KO'd within 5.

As for the Kermit Cintron/Sergio Martinez fight, this is the worst possible match-up that could have been made for poor Kermit. What are his handlers thinking? If Manny Steward were still his trainer, I don't think this fight wouldn't have been made. This is going to be the most lopsided fight of the evening. I see Ronnie Shields throwing in the towel around the 8th or 9th round.

I'm not going to sleep on Nate Campbell ... he made some dumb mistakes early off into his career but he's on the top of his game now and shouldn't go away easily ...

I'm not going to put much stock into a fighter who's been the product of home cooking - hand picked opponents - and in his natural environment -- He hasn't beat anyone other than Zahir Raheem, who hasn't achieved anything and who was going nowhere fast.
Other than Raheem he hasn't beat anyone ... win or lose.

Nate Campbell beat and lost to some good guys ...

Casamayor - former linear champion of the lightweight division
Juan Diaz - fought him in mexico for 3 championships
Robbie Peden - former champion/ also fought him in his home country
    Kid Diamond - was undefeated
    Hlatshawyo - was undefeated

This is true...but look at Funeka...he is a beast at 135!! He's quick, he's tall, and he's powerful. But, you're right...it wouldn't surprise me if Nate found a way to exploit the young fighter...he's that crafty!!

I've always been a fan of Nate's skills and his mouth. He is, in my opinion, one of the mosts underrated fighters in boxing. But, it obviously isn't his time at 135. That window has closed on the Galaxxy Warrior at this weight.

I would love to see him fight at 140 against guys like Paulie M and Kendell Holt. Heck, I would love to see him fight Juan Urango.

There are still great fights for him at 140.

I would love to see Malignaggi v Campbell or Holt ... or Hatton ... or Pacquiao

This guy would make for an entertaining fight win or lose ...

Agreed...that's why I hope that fight fans and fight media aren't too critical with him not making weight. It happens. Unfortunately, he was pretty harsh with Joan last year, and I think no one has forgotten about that. Let's just hope for the best. He is a credit to the sport!!

He said it was unprofessional not to make weight and he accepted it for what it was ... depending on how he performs ... he should be on the network again.

IMO Cintron vs. Martinez is the most intriguing fight tonight - Martinez has the habit to keep his hands low, provoking his opponents and he's not as physical imposing as Margarito to Cintron.

I predict a come from behind KO win for Cintron in the latter rounds...

Angulo-Rivera Rivera is an aging, welterweight, gate keeper moving up to jr middle to face a young, tough, banger. I think Angulo wins pretty impressively but Rivera will give him some rounds. Angulo late ko.

Martinez-Cintron I don't want to overate Martinez off his last performance but I still think he's too quick and well rounded for Cintron. Credit to Cintron for taking this fight but I like Martinez by decision.

Campbell-Funeka I simply don't know enough about Funeka. He lost to Fana who wasn't anything special but in his last fight he was impressive against Raheem who isn't a bad fighter. Campbell might not be together mentally and I that big win over Diaz was more a career performance than the norm. This has the making of an upset but without knowing more about Funeka I'd have to take Campbell by decision.

I think cintron will settle in to 154 ok, considering he's a freakish sized welter, i think that will be the best fight of the night, i think angulo will win inside the first 5 rounds and that campbell funeka will be a snoozefest
