It´s hard to pick Chambers winning, when Wlad has that huge size and weight advantage on his side. Okay, so had Dimitrenko, but unlike Dimitrenko, Wlad knows to use that advantage. He is really great in that department. Still i have some hope for Chambers. His power is underrated imo and in one department i think he is really great and that´s the timing of his punches. It was so easy for him to land on Dimitrenko and Povetkin (still don´t understand, why he stopped fighting after 5 rounds). I´m sure that he will be able to land on Wlad too and that´s something what Wlad still hasn´t learned, how to deal with someone who is really hitting back. In most of his fights he´s able to control the distance so easy, that his opponent wouldn´t even touch him. I don´t think that this will happen against Eddie. Still a long way to go for Eddie to beat the giant, but there´s a chance i believe.
I think most people are predicting this is going to be a blowout and there's certainly the potential for that to happen. I do believe that his hands are fast enough and his style is awkward enough to disrupt Wlad's rhythm and pull it off...but he'll have to open up offensively to do that. He also will need to win emphatically because any borderline fight will go to Wlad. Tough one to call although Wlad is the obvious choice.
40,000 tickets sold. Promoter expecting a sell-out come fight night. Who said HW boxing is dead? Not in Germany: http://translate.google.com/transla...q=Westernhagen+singt+f%C3%BCr+Klitschko&hl=en
1) In the Wlad vs. Haye fight, about 54,000 tickets (of 61,000) were sold when Haye claimed injury. After the name Chagaev turned up, the remeining tickets were sold within a few days. 2) The name Chambers is not too well known in Germany. The occasional boxing fan does not know him. Nonetheless, a 50,000 arena seems to be sold out. 3) The same goes for the name Sosnowski. Nonetheless, Vitali tries to sell out an arena of 61,000 for the fight (O2 arena of Schalke again). We'll see whether he succeeds. 4) Sport events in Germany generally became bigger and bigger within the last couple of years. The soccer arenas are filled with an average of 37,781 guests per game, for 306 matches each year. Dortmund sold 77,235 tickets for each match in the 2004/2005 season. Over 11 million tickets are sold each year in a country with 82 million inhabitants. Source: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fu%C3%9...28seit_2000.29 The arenas range up to 81,000 seats, but the average one of the 36 clubs of 1st and 2nd Bundesliga have less than 50,000 seats. But there are many other very big events: Formula 1 draws about 80,000 to the German races (Nürburgring, Hockenheimring). The Nürburgring offers a 24-hour-race each year, which drew a record of 220,000 visitors in 2004. Summing up, we should not say "boxing is not dead" but "sport events are not dead".
I don't know if its still the case, but a couple of years ago the German league paid the highest average wage to footballers in the world
Agreed. The Chambers reaction to jabs is effective against certain styles. Against a Wlad Klitschko, I agree it is a bad habit & one that needs to be eliminated for this fight. It is effective though against certain guys. But the guy does go into a pause mode on the outside & I think anyway, he's one of those guys that thinks 100% offense or 100% defense and reacts accordingly. He starts, does his thing, stops, etc. Not seamless when he does it. Guys more fluid switching between offense and defense have had problems with the accuracy of Klitschko's punches. The stand and pause and do everything at 12:00 guys are right where Wlad wants them. We'll have to see if he's worked a ton on upper body movement or his hands to parry punches or something to break that habit. You also have to factor in the pressure of such a big event. Wlad's been through it a ton of times.
funny how you rip wlad. "another boring cautious fight"..... and your boy Haye. his last fight was a thriller??????:-nut
No, that's definately not the case anymore. Why do you think the best players play in England (or Spain)? Because of the nice people? The Pay TV market in Germany is very small, PPV doesn't exist at all. Even Murdoch won't succeed. :happy
Clean up your act,"Gangsta". You are going nowhere. You need to man-up and get rid of the hate. You can start by being a better role-model by making your kids go to school. On second thought, I hope you don't have kids. You're like an alcoholic in denial: stuck on zero, and getting angrier every day.:fire It's your choice.:deal
Unfortunately Haye is not very active. It appears he makes like one fight per year and now he says he wants to retire next year. So far, I fail to see any "excitement" he promised to bring to the HW division.
Ya' ,he and Byrd have underestimated power. Wait 'til he gets hit... then the game plan goes out the window and he goes into survival mode.
Chambers will come into the ring highly motivated and ready to execute his brilliant plan. But after 120 seconds or so he will notice he can't get within reach of Wlad without eating two jabs and a right. He will get punished without landing a single meaningful punch on Wlad. After 3-4 rounds he will mentally give up and get knocked out by the middle rounds.
