What fights were you certain would go one way, and were vocal about that opinion, and then went completely differently?

I'll always remember thinking Hearns would stop Leonard early, and laying 500 on it. Ouch. After losing nearly a grand betting against Leonard against Benitez, Duran II and Hearns, I never bet against him again on principle, and made a great chunk of change on his beating Hagler. Didn't actually think he'd win, but I laid money down on the odds.

I picked Ruelas to beat De La Hoya and was the laughing stock of the gym for weeks. I can't even remember my logic for this one...Looking back, it looks like a mismatch even on paper.

I predicted, audibly, that Riddick would reach deep and have one last hurrah to destroy Golota in their rematch. His coming in slim had me completely fooled. I made an ass of myself peddling that pick. I was red as a cherry after 2 damn rounds.

    Let us hear em!

I picked Mijares to school Darchinyan. Didn't have a second's hesitation about it until I saw them both in the ring pre-fight. I'd always taken Mijares to be supremely confident, but this was the first time I got uneasy about his demeanor. That uneasiness was well deserved, as he proved that night that his "confidence" was just a facade. He was more or less just a cocky ******* with little reserve beneath the exterior. Just a terrible performance in general, really. I don't know what he was even attempting to do. Got everything beaten out of him that night and was practically finished as a relevant fighter after that. A damn shame, as he really looked to have the skills. I still like going over some of his older fights.

Against my better judgement, I thought B-Hop would beat Calzaghe.

Good call. I had him winning by a good 3-4 points, and I'm certainly no Bernard fan.

Yeah, I wasn't either, I actually kinda like Calzaghe too. Shouldn't have been a doubter.

Oscar de la Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao. I thought it was a mismatch in Oscar's favor. Pacquiao was moving up too high against a man with his best hand in the lead position, to jab and hook with. He was also a pretty reckless come-forward fighter.

It seemed money in the bank, really. Then Pac came out with side-to-side movement, slipping the jab easy, hurting Oscar with every bodyshot. Not often seen anything like it.

Maidana vs Khan - I couldn't see how Khan had any chance of lasting 5 rounds against Maidana. Happily proven wrong there.

Froch Abraham also. I though Abraham would KO Frich.

Morales Maidana. - Ok maidana won. But i was telling everyone that morales would be ko'd in a round or 2 and seriously hurt.

    Tyson-Bruno 2

I was horribly wrong with this one. I actually gave Bruno a good chance. Instead,he did worse than he did in their first fight. I forgot about Tyson having his number, psychologicaly.

Holmes-Spinks I; Sure Larry was getting on and I figured he was ripe to be taken by someone. But a little beefed up 175lber who had struggled with Eddie friggin' Davis wasn't the one to do it. No way...
