He was done, Joshua landed a huge right hand when Pov was on the ropes and Kirpa was flailing his arms.
Absolutely not. Povetkin was completely finished. He barely got up from the first one. Some of you guys need to chill out for a little, we don't need to see people dying.
Not at all Povetkin was badly hurt. AJ has quick hands for his size (he's really lucky he does because he would be so much easier to beat without them) and once he gets you hurt with a big single shot he immediately starts unloading with fast combos that are really hard to defend against and that's what makes him so dangerous.
Povetkin would not have been in position to defend himself let alone fight back, no way was that a premature stoppage.
Povetkins corner were on the apron and about to stop the fight when the referee did. And if you watch the first knockdown again the cornerman grabs and pulls Povetkin arm down and it looks like Povetkins stumbles and couldn't get up. Obviously he wanted Povetkin to take a longer count but It's crazy really, that stumbling around with the referee unsighted to the arm pulling could have got him stopped there and then. Povetkin was done, even when he was taken back to the corner for oxygen his legs were gone, I can understand some people disappointed Povetkin got stopped but it was over.
I think it was a good stoppage, but if you watch the replay, he nearly fell through the ropes because his trainer pulled on his glove.
I was happy he was given a chance following the knockdown, and also happy the ref waved it off immediately thereafter. Perfect stoppage.
