It doesn't matter. Floyd's power is enough that nobody is ever just walking through his punches without paying a price, which almost always renders his foes gunshy. Brittle hands or not, he has ample pop to put Khan on ***** street.

What matters is timing. Timing is Khan's nemesis; not power.

And it doesn't require volume. Again. It's timing.

It was on full display. Tonight.

    Listen.

Manny won 2 rounds because he was GOOD enough to punch Floyd in the face HARD and VISIBLY HURT HIM.

He may have won 2 other rounds based on trying harder than Floyd in a round where neither guy landed much, depending on how you look at things.

Algieri was lighting Khan up. Algieri hits like a malnourished female child. Mayweather has low punch output but is one of the most accurate punchers in the sport, and he's also a master at hitting people with shots they don't see. Khan takes more clean counterpunches to the face than almost any other fighter. This would not be so if he faced punchers with a bit of skill, as Danny Garcia showed us.

Algieri was making Khan miss and nullifying his combinations frequently. Mayweather is a better defensive fighter than Algieri, which you may have noticed when he didn't get dropped six times by Pacquiao.

Khan isn't throwing speed and volume against Mayweather. He's throwing himself onto a knockout punch in whichever round Mayweather decides to start hitting him.

Algieri proved tonight his versatility. He can box with a lot of movement or be the aggressor all night and do it well. It's impressive, really. Watch Algieri/Provdnikov/Pacquiao and then Algieri/Khan.

I don't think being the aggressor suits him. He doesn't have the stamina for that kind of fight and his punches were noticeably weaker toward the end.

I do think it was the right move to do it against Khan, and I'm impressed that he did it. I just don't think it will suit him against many other opponents. But given his height, reach, and surprisingly decent skills, he can beat most guys who aren't quicker than he is.

I agree. Still, seeing him change it up like he did tonight when he's naturally an extremely technical boxer, pretty impressive. Algieri is a good talent.

Didnt watch the fight but sounds like I was waaaay wrong on this fight. I really thought Khan would do well against Al.

I like algieri, glad he upped his stock tonight but not sure how i misjudged this matchup so badly. I thought khan looked decent against devon.

I must have had a bad combo of overrating khan and underrating al.

I know fighters arent in the business of accepting moral victories but I hope Algieri can have some pride in his performance. If it was as close as you guys have it, he did well. Happy for him.

It actually might have somewhat resembled Khan vs. Alexander if Algieri had fought the way he usually does.

He just threw in a complete ****** wrench and Khan never really adjusted or found a comfort zone.

He put in a SOLID twelve round effort - in even the rounds he clearly lost he was all-in, huge display of heart.

OK finally, some semi-reasoned stuff here. I agree totally with these points although to me you are over-egging the pudding slightly. You are willfully ignoring the fact that Manny ALSO had his number taken by a lesser counter puncher than Mayweather (remember the Marquez fight at all???) and ALSO leads with his face, Mayweather barely put a dent in him.
Now I'm not saying Khan has the chin of a PacMan but to suggest that Floyd 'does a Marquez' on Khan 'whichever round he choses' without coming under fire AT ALL is utter tosh.
Khan has fast combinations and great athleticism which, regardless of how cerebral and well groomed your fighting-style, will cause a 37-38 low volume fighter problems, at least in the sense that rounds will be stolen through volume/flashy activity.

But I again, concede your points. Cheers for stating what few other people seem to be able to manage.:good

pac'c combo of power and speed just made algieri looked so bad. algieri cant even settle for a second for fear of getting hurt.

he was actually the aggressor in the kahn fight.

lol at 2 rounds won by pac. and lmao at floyd's accuracy. 15pct against pac, really? maybe you can provide floyd\s 67 jabs, been looking for them since forever now.

    pac easy 115-113.

i think pac beats floyd and kahn in the same night and that's with 1 arm. :p
