Parker above Joshua? On what sensible grounds could this conclusion be reached?

Parker has fought better opposition at the moment than Joshua. The ratings are based on results.

They are based on an *interpretation* of results. So yeah I see what you're saying, and it's an interesting perspective. But results don't tell the full story sometimes. Parker has not fought in the cauldron of a world title fight. He's not had to handle that pressure. Or the pressure of defending a world belt. And despite the level of opposition AJ has faced being a little lower, these are factors a results-based algorithm cannot factor in. This list is interesting and debate-inducing. But the methodology is simplistic and flawed.

The cauldron of a world title fight is something you have decided should be factored into rating a boxer. These ratings just factor what has happened. No ratings will please everybody and everyone will see one or more fighters incorrectly positioned to their eyes. I think a group of 50 or so people will get a top 10 subjectively right as the flaws can be ironed. Subjectively I have AJ higher. I think producing a list for boxers ranked 11 to 100 is better this way. Perhaps merging both rankings is a better result.

I agree, ranking fighters is subjective and the only true way of doing so, is once they have stepped into the ring to face each other. Before that opinion will be divided. And even after that, people will still debate.

I guess he fought Takam who is a more proven fighter than anyone Joshua has faced although I personally wouldn't put parker above Aj from the eye test.

But look at who AJ fought for the title, he fought the worst champion in recent heavyweight history.
