The Premier Boxing Organisation rank the top 100 independently in each of the 17 division based on merit. July 2016 online now. www.premierboxingorganisation.com/heavyweight-200
You use a lineal approach to determine the #1 fighter I assume which makes the list utterly ridiculous in many divisions. Glowacki and Huck over a unified Lebedev, Stevenson over Kovalev, Ramirez #1 at SMW (lol), Canelo (who's not been fighting in that divison for years) #1 at 154 , Zlaticanin #1 at lightweight etc Poor list
This is better than boxrec no doubt. Sure it's not perfect, but it's very much more refined than the boxrec approach.
The lineal approach is totally through the top 100, so based totally on what has happened not what you might think would happen. Until Lebedev unifies with Glowacki he is not #1 as Lebedev has not fought the great fighters yet, his best opponent he beat was only ranked 7, having two titles mean nothing. Same with Ramirez at 168. Canelo IMO has always been a junior-middleweight one pound over does not make you a middleweight, if that approach was taken in boxing 95% of boxers would be ranked in the next division. Subjectively I agree Kovalev is better, in his next fight he will go to #1 if he wins. At lightweight, everything is close. It is not a poor list its the best list but there will always be omething that does not agree with everyone's eyes.
Good list I like how Canelos ranked #1 in his natural weight class He should also be #1 at mw cause he's still lineal champ- the real champ
That's what I would say about it. It's not perfect, certainly, but better than a lot of 'em. Certainly better than what you see from the sanctioning bodies.
