Prescott I was robbed against McCloskey

Too close to call it a robbery. I can't remember who I had winning. A narrow decision either way is fine. Prescott's being given another wonderful chance on the Pac-JMM undercard, so he should concentrate on taking full advantage of that, instead.

 

I had Prescott winning by 1 but it was a close fight that could have went either way, he just so happened to take the fight in Ireland so McClosky was getting the close rounds. It's boxing and it happens, if anything he still improved his reputation in the loss so all in all it was still a good fight for Prescott.

 

Close fight or not - he's right to say he was robbed because he won the fight but didn't get the decision.

But he didn't, though.

You can only claim a robbery when you clearly win a fight, and don't get the decision. Prescott didn't clearly win the fight. Lots of people had it close for both guys.

 

He's a fighter and he's compelled to say he was robbed but personally I feel he was beaten and I think he knew it too. He didn't celebrate at final bell, he didn't protest at the decision and his aggressiveness in the last round was characteristic of the last sting from a dying wasp - and a fighter who knows he needs a KO.

Granted - he doesn't have to protest and throw the toys out of the pram but I felt his body language replicated that of a defeated fighter.

 

I think he won it clear enough. While it was pretty close, he obviously won. If that makes sense. Which I'm sure it doesn't. Gave him every round till the 8th I think when he gassed.

 

Not a robbery, but I had Prescott winning, but I also had a feeling the whole fight that he wasn't doing enough to win in McCloskey's back yard. To me he only has himself to blame for the loss, he just doesn't seem to have the drive to keep pouring it on to define the win. It's almost like he in his mind thought he was controlling the fight and shut it down to cruise control late, while McCloskey was fighting to win, even though I don't think he actually did.

 

I felt that Prescott clearly won the fight.

Not really surprising he is saying this. He thought he won the fight and he can argue a case for that. But, as has so eloquently been said already, it was a close fight. Close rounds can be scored for either fighter. A close decision either way or a draw is a satisfactory result. Not even close to being a 'robbery'.

 

I don't actually think the rounds were close though, there was a pretty definitive line between Prescott knocking around McCloskey and winning the early to middle rounds, and then Prescott gassing and McCloskey outworking him for the rest of the fight, any of the close rounds were the latter ones, but they were McCloskeys anyway.

 

They didn't even have the decency to make it a SD, as is the case when someone gets robbed. Embarrassing commentary by SKY, and to say that the the whole post fight interview by McCloskey was cringe-worthy is an understatement.

 

had Prescott winning too, but he should have known to pace himself better

losing the final round in the hometown's fighter's backyard isn't going to do you any favors

it's painful to watch him fight, he loads up heavily on his punches and wastes too much stamina whenever he misses because of it

this why he always gets tired later
