By publicly declaring the results of their investigation, they probably just want to put all of these murder conspiracies to bed. That's all.

The way I see it is...... Surely if they're saying it WASN'T suicide then they'd just arrest someone rather than calling a press conference?

They'd have to know who did it in that scenario.

I dunno, but I remember at the time people saying that it couldn't have been suicide. And there's always an awful lot of, stories about the goings about of the Brazilian police.

That said, it probably is suicide, I just don't want it to be really.

Suicide is suicie, shouldn't take anything away from the man (unless you're devoutly religious, which some are of course)

I had a similar feeling when it was announced Alexis had 'taken it's own life'.

'But surely not a man of his heart and class'?

Anyone can lose the will to live, even the toughest of people.

I admit, that even with all the political nonsense that may have surrounded Arguellos sad demise, Gattis was even weirder and struck me even less as a likely suicide at the time.

Hopefully, like the man himself, everything can be laid to rest soon.

Someone I know took his own life and while it was difficult not to be resentful and angry, I don't think anyone can get close to understanding suicide unless you find yourself in the same state of mind. It seems like an incredibly selfish thing to do on the face of it but it's heart breaking to think that somebody could be in such a dark place that they can't face life any more.

gatti was at the place in his life where he was dealing with no longer being a fighter and having the highs of the sport. he loved his reputation and loved the fact that fans loved his fights. maybe he thought he was becoming irrelevant. i believe he had a public fight with his girlfriend and then got attacked and berated by several members of the public for hitting her. i think this drove him over the edge and he was very drunk at the time. people deriding him in public, his life as a fighter over, his relationship over, his fans moving on and cheering for other fighters... all of this combined to put him in a very dark, sad and depressing state and he took the easy way out.

Exactly. One of my mates killed himself on Xmas Eve: I can't imagine how he must've felt.

It must be like a different gear. You don't know what it's truly like until you've been it. I find it hard to criticise anyone, unless it's one of those 'celebrity didn't reciprocate love so he shot himself' type things.

But private investigators hired by the champ's manager told The Jersey Journal today their extensive probe has revealed it was no suicide.
"I think that when we get done with the press conference it will be pretty clear it was not a suicide," said Chicago-based private investigator Paul Ciolino, who was hired by Gatti's manager, Pat Lynch, to investigate the 37-year-old's death.

Asked if the result of the investigation would point a finger at anyone, Ciolino said "We don't have to. Only one person was in the apartment that night" -- Gatti's wife.

I hate this phase. Even though I agreed with most of the post you ruined it with the ending.
Noone knows whats going on in another mans mind and soul. Maybe he felt there was nothing worth fighting for anymore, noone knows, who are we to judge.
Noone kills themselves on a ****ing whim.

An investigator hired by boxing legend Arturo Gatti’s manager Pat Lynch have given his verdict after a thorough investigation into the death of the two-weight world champion, who died in Brazil in 2009.

Chicago-based P.I Paul Ciolino has put his findings into a detailed report, which will be released on August 30th, but gave his opinion to New Jesery-based newspaper The Jersey Journal in the wake of a press conference about the investigation, which is due to take place today.

Gatti died aged 37 whilst on holiday with his wife Amanda Rodrigues and his young son in north east Brazil and after an investigation by the Brazilian authorities was deemed a suicide. Brazilian police had said that the exciting prize fighter was drunk and depressed and used his wife’s purse strap to hang himself whilst his wife and son slept upstairs, which Ciolino totally disagrees with.

"I think that when we get done with the press conference it will be pretty clear it was not a suicide," Ciolino told The Journal.

"It was not physically possible, given the circumstances and their (Brazilian police) theories.

Ciolino also added that the Brazilian police investigation was "half-assed" and "The autopsy was totally incomplete.”

“They did a lot of things that were not acceptable practice anywhere in the world. It was just totally inaccurate," added Ciolino.

Many fans around the world, along with members of Gatti’s family refused to believe that the boxer nicknamed ‘Thunder’ would take his own life and Ciolino, without blaming her directly, has said if suicide is ruled out that only leaves Gatti’s wife as the culprit.

"We don't have to (point any fingers), only one person was in the apartment that night.”

Ciolino has claimed that he has evidence in his possession, "which will conclusively lay to rest the mystery surrounding Gatti's cause of death."

A press conference is due to be held today after a 10-month investigation, with Ciolino’s full report due at the end of the month.
