Well it's a different type of proposition for Floyd than what we were used to seeing him against, but i'd still ultimately pick him.

Nice analysis of the fight but it's still your opinion not a fact and I respect your opinion.

Now in my opinion Mayweather would make any adjustments that needed to be made and thoroughly out box Casa.
You mention that better fighters than Floyd have lost and that's true, but I would like to let you know that better fighters than Casa have been outboxed too.

El Cepillo by TKO or UD... El Cepillo too slick and too dangerous.. reason why Floyd ducked him.

I've been thinking about this a lot today, while I was bored at work. And I've come to the conclusion that Casa's main issues to overcome would be Floyd's reach advantage, which is about 6 inches. That would be a big factor.

To me, this is just the ultimate tactical fight.

My mind goes back to the Zab Judah fight, Floyd was having all sorts of trouble with the southpaw stance for the first 5-6 rounds. And yeah, he overcame that and won the fight, but he was really taken out of his rhythm.

Now if we compare Judah to Casa - Judah is a well balanced fighter, whereas Casa is the accomplished counter puncher. I would suggest that he is as quick as Judah, and certainly is stronger and has a better chin.

So, if Floyd stays on his game, if he uses that jab to keep Casa off balance, then he could quite easily grind out a decision. But this is where the tactics come into it...Casa is a smart mother-****er and he has nothing to lose fighting FMJ.

Everyone would be writing him off (much like this poll) so he sits back, he doesn't push the fight, he doesn't try to engage and he doesn't fall into the in-and-out counter punching traps that Mayweather sets.

In fact, Casa beats Floyd at his own game. He makes Floyd engage, he makes Floyd come forward, and he lays the traps.

I really only see two outcomes. Casa fights dumb & Floyd stays on his game. He uses his long reach advantage and grinds out a comfortable UD. Or secondly, Casa fights smart. And the awkward southpaw once again gives Floyd all sorts of problems.

Either option comes with one prerequisite...Casa will land that big left hook at some point, and Floyd's chin is going to be tested more thoroughly than at any point in his glittering career so far.

Prime Casamayor at 135 beats Mayweather, makes you wonder why Mayweather never fought him when he was at Lightweight...

Good post man. Yeah I think Casa & FMJ are actually about the same height, but Floyd has a pretty huge reach advantage so that would be a big factor, in a fight that I would think would be extremely tactical. I mean, there is no doubt in my mind that Floyd is a better fighter than Casamayor. But its that old cliche of styles make....well you know.

I would actually rate Mayweather as the 4th most technically gifted fighter of the last two decades. Which doesn't sound that good, but when you looks at the guy ahead of him (Sweat Pea, B-Hop, RJJ) then that really is something.

I'm not sure I totally agree with Casa 'not being a big puncher'. I mean, ok yeah. It's probably true, but he can certainly bang. I just think he has so many other elements to his game, that his power (and certainly his speed) is often overlooked. His left hook is pretty brutal, and I've yet to see an opponent who was able to stop him landing that, more or less at will...
