Although Mayweather is not a pressure fighter, he has fought like a pressure fighter against guys who he didn't believe could hurt him. He's also pressured lefties throughout his career.
If your talking about me, I was initialy responding to a poster who said the distinct advantage PBF had over Pea was power. PBF would not knock Pea out, there is just no way. So then, we are looking at a decision- and again, its Pea's activity level carrying the day.
I said it was unlikly that Floyd would be able to hurt Pea not impossable. The Tito fight just highlights his chin.
Well Pea thought that he was good enough to beat Tito at the time and no one disagreed considering that he was still among the best p4p.
No - the Tito fight doesn't highlight his chin - He took a beating for 6 straight rounds and was knocked down 2wice. . He was standing flat footed toe to toe with Tito no head movement no defense.
Many fighters are delusional about when to finally hang up the gloves. Look at Roy Jones Jr today. Look at Muhammad Ali's final appalling handful of fights, look at Leonard returning again and again only to lose badly, look at Hearns and Holyfield, or at Tyson quitting on his stool against Mcbride. The list goes on and on. Whitaker is one of many fighters who have fooled themselves past their best. We're not here to discuss whether Whitaker was smart in taking the Tito fight or not. That has absolutely no relevance to how his style matches up with Mayweather, prime for prime. The point is that he was CLEARLY nowhere near the fighter he once was when he stepped in with Tito, and that anyone disputing that just comes across as nuts, to be honest.
This is assuming Mayweather, who we all know is an awesome technical fighter and great student of the game, would not know how to handle this. I'm not saying Mayweather would win easily, but I do see him winning with aggression... and that being the only clear deciding factor as both with miss alot and neither would be winning by KO.
My argument is not flawed, it highlights Pea's ability to consistantly take hard punches from a big puncher. Highlighting his ability to take a punch ergo being less likley to get hurt.
Pea was still ranked in the top 5 p4p and many experts believe to that point that he never lost a fight.
