Good point O but what if Sweat Pea becomes the aggressor? What if Floyd ties up on the inside? We haven't see Floyd fight much on the inside -- what if he's just as good?
We've seen Floyd fight A LOT on the inside, what are you even talking about? "What if" he's just as good? From what we've seen, he's not, and you can only go by what you see. If he didn't fight on the inside, odds are he doesn't exactly feel comfortable there. Bottom line though, he often fights on the inside, I just don't think you've seen enough footage of either men honestly.
Whitaker UD His southpaw stance, pumping right jab, workrate, and his own speed/defense/adaptability would be enough to beat Mayweather.
if i didn't see enough footage I wouldn't have started this thread and thats why i'm interested in everyone's opinion.
watch the last couple of rounds of his fight with chavez, that will show you how floyd fights on the inside
just give me your opinion - don't assume anything about me -- I called it a draw and I asked you questions about what you thought, just throwing out suggestions to get a better understanding. Damn why are you questioning my fanhood? (ha ha)
I said that i've seen him fight on the inside 2 times (against Chavez and against Hatton) do you read the post or do you just skim through it? (jay-z)
Well, I gave you my thoughts on the matchup and you came back with points that didn't add up, which is why we're still arguing. I believe Pernell would handily win, due to a number of factors outlined in my first post.
Yeah bro I came at you with a whole bunch of "what ifs" I know that both of these guys are of the same mold -- and that it would be tough to score and tough to determine who's doing more work. I called it a draw 114-114 with Pernell doing his work early and Floyd turining it up once he figures out Pernell's southpaw style. I also think that sweet pea is one of few boxers that will make floyd turn it up and take his game to another level.
Some of you guys are ignoring the fact that both of these guys are good at defense. Pernell - slipping, ducking, and changing angles Floyd - primarily blocking and ducking ... twisting his body to neutralize the power on punches. rolling that shoulder ... come on -- I know theres more than just giving a flat out decision. Hell anyone can make a prediction, i'm looking for boxing fans who know what they're talking about.
How would sweet pea deal with the straight right to the pit of the stomach a shot that Floyd throws against southpaws. You gotta be kidding me if anyone thinks that Pernell is going to neutralize that.
