Dude that wasn't even a fight - Floyd bounced around the ring and mixed in some aggression now and again but no inside fighting. Floyd counter more catching N'dou walking in that inside fighting -- Do you know what you're talking about son?
This is a much closer fight than people think it is. People here are acting like Pea would school PBF and give him a boxing lesson which couldn't further from the truth. While Pea's southpaw stance, defense and jab would give PBF fits you act as if Pea wouldn't be bothered by PBF's speed, accuracy and defense. PBF is a smart fighter would find a way to win rounds. While I give the slight edge in this matchup to Pea it is by no means a blowout.
Give me something more -- you made it apparent that you are aware of both syles and know them well how do you see the fight taking place?
This is what i'm talking about ... I think alot of guys are give Pea too much credit and not enough to Floyd. They both were p4p kings and both were atop of the boxing world. This is an even fight on paper in my mind ... I wish someone would explain to me what they think would pan out once the opening bell is rung.
Watch it again, the entire fight was fought in the inside. Floyd basically fought in the pocket and beat N'Dou up on the inside or in close the whole time.
Yeah I read your posts but you're making it seem like Pernell is fighting a fringe contender. These are two boxing savonts ... So you think that Pernell will have an answer for everything Floyd throws at him en route to a lopsided UD. Thats the impression your leaving with me.
I am saying the styles matchup clearly favors Pernell, because, once again, he can do everything Floyd can do, and then some. That "then some" involves using tools that would give Floyd major stylistic problems, such as using a strong southpaw jab and throwing at a higher workrate, which would allow him to land more punches, especially with the jab. Also, the fact that it often takes Floyd a good deal of time to adapt to his opponents(even FAR lesser ones than Whitaker) shows that he would definitely have to adapt to Whitaker's style, losing early rounds in the process. However, even when he does start to adapt, I can't see him gaining any kind of advantage because he simply holds no advantages of his own to imply later. Floyd would win maybe 4 rounds.
Then either haven't seen the fight, or your memory is ****. A LOT of the fight was fought right in the pocket, which is why it was considered such an impressive performance by Floyd, because he beat up a big puncher(though he was C level) in close.
